Movies Why was Only God Forgives polarizing compared to Drive?

I remember liking Drive so much that I watched the Pusher trilogy and Bronson. All of them were good. He really lost the plot after Drive though.

I liked it. Gosling asking that cop to fight and then getting his ass kicked is what you expect to see whenever a farang acts like tough shit in Thailand.
Weird ass movie though. Focused on symbolism at the expense of making sense.
Weird ass movies are good for a watch.

This may be even more polarizing but I really liked Neon Demon.

Only God Forgives and The Neon Demon are his two best films after Drive. Pusher III comes close though.

Refn is like hype williams where he mostly uses the style over substance,only god forgives is a fun movie to look at but it has a stupid story.
