Dropping your kid off the side of the road as punishment is actually pretty common retro asian punishment . This kid isnt a typical obedient stereotype . His parents said they were leaving him and he went to find shelter . The typical response parents expect is the kid begs not to be dropped off and is still in the same spot crying in devastation when the parents return 10 ~ 30 minutes later .

Actually my uncle (korean marine war hero from his tours in vietnam, he got some crazy stories) did that to his kids. It was funny. He also broke his son's arm with a baseball bat (he was in his twenties and messing with the wrong crowd) and almost shot his other son who sold our grandma's house without her knowledge right after grandpa died.

He is my favorite (crazy) uncle.
