Rumor: MAD MAX: FURY ROAD Prequel to Be in Development

Australia’s Herald-Sun claims that pre-production on Mad Max: The Wasteland is well underway and looking to film in the Broken Green area of the Outback. Additionally, they say the film will focus on the backstory of Theron’s character, Imperator Furiosa.

Outside of the news article, there’s been no confirmation or talk regarding a possible prequel coming from either Miller’s camp or Warner Bros. Pictures.

Regarding the location of Broken Hill, Dark Horizons points out that the area is generally barren and the original plan was to film Fury Road there. However, unforeseen rains flood the location making it green and fertile – something that obviously wouldn’t fit into the dusty, barren landscape Miller needed for his movie – so filming was moved to nearby Namibia.

Now that Broken Hill is once again a dry, dusty landscape, it’s entirely possible that Miller wants to take advantage of this environment for The Wasteland, lest he once again misses out on shooting there. That definitely adds a sense of plausibility to this current rumor.

2nd English Trailer for Russian Superhero Team Movie GUARDIANS

Last month, the first English-language trailer for Guardians, a new Russian superhero movie that could give American heroes a run for their money, was released. For those who can't get enough of this buzzworthy new adventure, a new trailer has arrived with even more exciting and action-packed footage.

After spending years hiding in the shadows during the Cold War era, a group of heroes, created by an organization called "Patriot" must show themselves again. These heroes include a man who can manipulate stone (Sebastien Sisak), another who is a half-man, half-bear (Anton Pampushnyy), a woman who has the ability to manipulate and turn herself into a form of water (Alina Lanina) and a teleporter who uses a pair of enormous sickle weapons (Sanzhar Madiev). These heroes all come from different Soviet republics, but they must unite to save their collective homeland.

Guardians is set for release in Russia on February 23, 2017, although there is no U.S. release date set at this time.

Set in 19th century Czarist Russia, the story revolves around Yakovlev, a retired army veteran, who makes a comfortable living by settling other people's duels, a common practice of the era. Bruce Lee Versus Wong Jack Man in BIRTH OF THE DRAGON Trailer

The first trailer for the Bruce Lee-inspired martial arts movie Birth of the Dragon has hit the web. Described as an “affectionate nod to the classic Kung Fu films of the 1970s,” Birth of the Dragon dramatizes the true life 1964 fight between Kung Fu legend Bruce Lee (though he hadn’t reached his legendary status at the time) and Shaolin Master Wong Jack Man.

A hotly disputed showdown between two expert martial artists, two narratives of the fight have emerged over the decades — Bruce Lee’s version, who claimed he dominated the fight, ending it in three minutes, and Wong Jack Man’s contrasting account, which clocked the fight at over 20 minutes with no clear victor. Regardless of which version you believe, it was a seminal fight for Lee’s career, inspiring him to create his Jeet Kune Do technique.

The Adjustment Bureau director George Nolfi brings the much-debated showdown to the big screen with a script from Christopher Wilkinson and Stephen J. Rivele; the writing duo behind Ali, Nixon and Pawn Sacrifice. Phillip Ng, Xia Yu, Billy Magnussen and Simon Yin lead the cast. Birth of the Dragon debuted at Toronto International Film Festival and does not yet have a US release date.

Jessica Chastain Fights for Gun Control in MISS SLOANE Trailer

EuropaCorp has released the first trailer for the political thriller Miss Sloane. Jessica Chastain stars as a brilliant but ruthless lobbyist who is notorious for her unparalleled talent and her desire to win at all costs, even when it puts her own career at risk. The thriller pulls back the curtain on how Capitol Hill games are played and won as Sloane faces off against the most influential powers in D.C. (i.e. the gun lobby).

John Madden (Shakespeare in Love) directs from a screenplay by Jonny Perera. Mark Strong, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Michael Stulbarg, Alison Pill, Jake Lacy, Sam Waterston and John Lithgow also star. Miss Sloane hits theaters on December 9.

Jared Leto to Play Famed Pop Artist Andy Warhol in Biopic WARHOL

Jared Leto, Michael De Luca and Terence Winter are teaming up to tackle the life of Andy Warhol, the famed pop art artist whose blend of art and commerce made him a household name.

Leto will portray the artist for the biopic, titled Warhol, as well as produce it, along with De Luca, the producer whose credits include such Oscar-winning and -nominated true-life tales as The Social Network and Captain Phillips.

Winter, the Boardwalk Empire creator who wrote The Wolf of Wall Street, will pen the screenplay, using the Victor Bockris 1989 book, Warhol: The Biography, as a jumping-off point. (Leto and De Luca jointly acquired the rights to the book, having had a desire to partner on a project for some time now, according to sources.)

Warhol stormed the art world in the 1960s with works that elevated American consumerism to artistic heights, showing that even Campbell’s soup cans, Coca-Cola bottles and celebrities can be spun into art.

Angelina Jolie Files for Divorce From Brad Pitt

Angelina Jolie has filed for divorce from Brad Pitt, citing irreconcilable differences. TMZ first reported the news on Tuesday, and the Associated Press later confirmed that Jolie filed for divorce from her husband of a little over two years.

The AP reported that Jolie's attorney Robert Offer said Tuesday that she'd filed for dissolution of the marriage, with a decision made "for the health of the family."

The actress is asking for physical custody of the couple's six children, according to TMZ, and her legal filing lists the date of separation as Sept. 15.

"I am very saddened by this, but what matters most now is the wellbeing of our kids. I kindly ask the press to give them the space they deserve during this challenging time," Pitt said in a statement to People.

TMZ adds that the decision to divorce has to do with how Pitt is parenting their children and that Jolie is upset over his methods, but there's no outside person who contributed to the move.

Jolie and Pitt married in August 2014 after a nearly 10-year relationship. The couple, who were together since 2005, made their engagement official in 2012, as Jolie began wearing an engagement ring that Pitt helped design.

Extended TV Spot for ALLIED Starring Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard

In a bit of news that’s probably in no way timed to the unfortunately (and very personal) news that Angelina Jolie has filed for divorce from Brad Pitt, Paramount Pictures has released a new trailer for Allied, the action/drama/romance flick that stars Pitt opposite Marion Cotillard.

The World War II-era picture directed by Robert Zemeckis and written by Steven Knight sees Pitt’s intelligence officer Max Vatan encountering French Resistance fighter Marianne Beausejour (Cotillard) in Northern Africa in 1942. The war follows them both home to London where their reunion is further complicated. Allied opens November 23.
