Stipe’s win streak

Analyzing Fedors record, it would appear fedors best six fight win streak was

nogueria 3 - great win
kohsaka 2 - avenged previous loss
crocop - legendary win
zuluzinho - freak show fight
Mark Coleman - way past his prime
Mark hunt - very green, but dangerous on the feet

Yeah, but let's compare Fedor and Stipe's 27 fight undefeated streaks.

Oh wait.

No.... just no. Werdum's best days were behind him. how you can look at that fight and say Werdum was in his Prime is beyond me. sure he subbed Cain before that fight, but that does not in any way, mean he was in his Prime.
Werdum was not in his prime anymore. And look at Arlovski's record since getting knocked out by Stipe. Overeem fight was a weird one, great win but he was pretty close to losing the belt. The Hunt, JDS and Francis wins were good though. Stipe is legit but don't play it like he is the best ever already.
When has Werdum ever looked as good, as complete and as sharp as he did against Cain? The answer is never. The best version of Werdum that we have ever seen beat up Cain Velasquez immediately preceding the stipe fight.
In a funny way that kind of attitude reminds me of the "who REALLY wrote Shakespeare" theories. There's been a lot of academics who've done ridiculous amounts of research and textural analysis trying to prove one or another figure of the time was the actual author of the plays. But boil down all their arguments, and they basically resolve into one thing — the inability of these people to accept that the works of genius they revere could come from a country-bred guy of undistinguished family who didn't go to university and who looks unnervingly like Tobias Fünke in Arrested Development. Surely, they think, a writer like that MUST be credentialed and well-traveled, highborn and cultured...

Stipe strikes me as sort of the ultimate utility player. They never get the recognition and star status, but I'd argue that an exceptional level of aptitude at several skills is even rarer than the highest level at one. And what sport has the potential of rewarding the generalist, not the specialist, more than mixed-martial arts?
High level post + analogy

Fedor, Nogueira, Werdum, and JDS all have better resumes... by a lot.
{<jordan}

Fedor can compete on numbers alone but even he doesn't have the same quality wins in a streak. Werdum has unbelievable wins, but he's never gone on a streak like Stipe.

The other two are silly to compare.

Stipe is in his own league in terms of quality streaks at heavyweight

5-2 (and should have had a loss to Wand) when he fought Fedor, then went on a massive losing streak right after, mainly because people figured out he can’t fight on the ground. His mma skills were still green when he fought fedor.

He still can't fight on the ground.

And his striking is less dangerous than it was when he wasn't like 45 years old.

Cain that hadn't fought in 2 years..

Yes he does.

The same sherdoggers writing off moicic are the same ones who probably think Cain is top 3 of all time at HW, absolute joke, moicic record is absolutely impressive, all finishes too, he's already the greatest ufc HW ever, if he beats DC he' i th tal of greatest HW of all time.

Yes he does.
Absolutely positively not. Not even a question. Mirko, Noguiera and Arlovski are far and away the best wins. It's hard to argue any single one of those as better wins than Overeem, Werdum or JDS... even at the time that Stipe beat them
Cain that hadn't fought in 2 years..
and???? It's still easily Werdum's best performance, most complete performance and best win of his career. Easily.

hunt was NOT green at all, the guy was a K1 elite level striker even back then.

Contextually, yes it is very easy to argue exactly that. Fedor didn't fight them when they were all 40 and had been knocked out a dozen times.

Two year lay-off Cain is far and away Werdum's best win? Get the fuck outta here lmao Everyone knows the biggest pinnacle of Werdum's career was being the guy that dethroned Fedor.

"The other two are silly to compare."

U shouldnt post things like that. You´re exposin´yourself, Im afraid.

He's the same fighter now that he was then... so, are you saying Hunt is still green?

Will we ever see a "post green Hunto?"

ill post whatever is true. You cannot compare Noguiera or JDS to Stipe as far as resumes go.
Sorry

Did u watch Big Nog´s early fights in RIngs, for instance?

No, contextually, it's not.

But you'll nuthug over Stipe any way you can lol

Nog has far better wins than Stipe does.

Stipe has the Jon Jones thing going where on paper, his resume looks amazing and is full of legends and big names. In reality, like Jones, he's beating them all when they are in the twilight of their career. He doesn't have a win over a single guy in their prime.

If this was 2010 and he had those names, it would be super impressive. In 2018, it's just a resume full of old guys. It's not his fault, it's just the state of the HW division.

Cain was gassed due to elevation, Werdum had already been there, training and getting used to fighting at elevation. Sea Level Cain is the best heavyweight of this decade IMO and he would've ran through Werdum had he been 100%.
