Is Europe and Africa taking over the UFC?

You’re clearly a bit special so I’ll keep it simple. You’re wrong. The two countries with the biggest populations in the world are not mid-tier on a per capita basis.

And just lol at the notion of being a hater for pointing out that the US isn’t particularly special or unique in terms of efficiency of producing high calibre athletes <45>

Bizarre to throw a hissy fit against a factual statement simply because it paints your country in a light that’s not quite ‘we’re the best at everything and everyone is jealous of us’.
China and India are poor sporting nations, that doesn’t change the fact that population size negatively weighs on your ability to excel in a per capita basis in the Olympics. What are you even talking about?

You’re a hater because your argument in this thread literally started with the US supposedly only winning in sports that no one cares about and has now devolved into per capita arguments (that are flawed) to explain away why in fact the US dominates. What an embarrassing and yet clearly shameless flip-flop.

Stipe couldn't get Ngannou down in the rematch for two reasons.

1) Ngannou didn't bum rush and waste his energy.
2) His takedown defense and overall wrestling improved. Not only did he sprawl beautifully, he was confident enough to try taking Stipe's back in order to unleash ground and pound.

I saw no evidence that Ngannou was tired in the 2nd round of their rematch btw. He wasn't labored or breathing heavy he seemed fine. I'd also like to see Blaydes and Jones face each other since we're on the topic of wrestling.

Ngannou certainly paced himself better and didn't hand Stipe the opportunity and Stipes missed takedown opened himself to damage that set the tone for rest of the fight. But Stipe only tried one Takedown so I don't know if that's enough to judge though no doubt he was working on TDD. But Stipe isn't Jones and while I can see Ngannou stopping some takedowns Jones is so good at avoiding damage in those situations.

He seemed tired to me he really went for it to get the finish.

You're right Blaydes might not be the best HW but he's a bad matchup for Jones. Would be interested.

Your reading comprehension and argumentative ability is genuinely terrible, man.

You literally stated “any county with a large population is always going to be “mid-tier” on a per capita basis in the Olympics”. That is simply not true, as I’ve clearly demonstrated. Don’t be a shitebag - just own it. Your statement is factually incorrect.

My original comment, which you seem to have picked up on and changed entirely, was “The US aren’t a bad sporting nation, but definitely specialise in sports that no one else is really bothered about.” Again that is absolutely, factually correct. You’re not bad a bad sporting nation, but you’re most dominant playing sports that are largely confined to the US itself. You’re pretty good at athletics but every so often someone will beat you on the track. Nobody will ever beat you at American football however.

In truly embarrassing fashion you’ve jumped on my comment like a mad tank I capable of looking at anything without a red, white abs blue lens and accused me of being ‘hater’ for simply pointing out that you’re not some sort of uniquely outstanding sporting nation <45>

It’s bizarre really. I’ve never seen anyone from any other nation get so uppity about a couple of statements that are very blatantly factually correct.

Actually @Selukrid612 no offence meant. Had a long day which can lead me to being a bit of a dick on here at times, so apologies for the name calling. I’m dealing with very specific terms, basically.

Have a good one.

Americans are too full.

Too privileged.

We don't have the hunger.

I was clearly referring to the US with the “mid-tier” part because that’s who you were calling mid-tier. The point being countries with a large population will never be anything more (yes, I should’ve been more specific in anticipation of you being pedantic) than mid-tier in a per capita sense in the Olympics because population actually works against you. Hilarious how you want to talk about reading comprehension and then sit here and act like you didn’t understand that very basic point. Clearly my argument was not that China and India are anywhere near quality sporting nations. Another act of pure shamelessness on your part to try to score a point since your original argument fell apart immediately.

How is it a fact that we only specialize in sports that no one cares about when we dominate the Olympics? Again, you’re flip-flopping here. One second you say that, the next you concede and resort to flawed per capita arguments. The US can both dominate sports that no one else plays and dominate other sports that other countries do play, they’re not mutually exclusive.

How did “Da bess wrestler in MMA!” do in the Olympics anyway?? I missed it
The actual Nigerian representative in his weightclass in the London Olympics, Andrew Dick, was close to a shot for the bronze medal through the repechage bouts but had to withdraw from the competition because of a serious injury.

The other Nigerian representative in male wrestling, Sinivie Boltic was the country bearer.

The convenience Nigerian made 4th in the 2011 USA Wrestling Freestyle Olympic Trials.

This is the internet dude, don’t come at me with an olive branch. We’re e-jousting to the death

The bottom line remains - the US is relatively mid tier in terms of being efficient at producing high calibre athletes. That’s really all there is to it.

If you want, but then you assume the correlation should be linear. It's speculation at this point.

Anyway, since there's an obesity problem in the US, you might be right anyway.

I am right. But isn’t anything to be ashamed about.

It’s just funny seeing people get pissy about it. I think a lot of Americans get brought up with a kind of “US no.1!” mentality that’s difficult for them to shake. When presented with clear facts that contradict that position (without even putting the US down I should add, merely saying they’re not uniquely good) it can be met with a lot of hostility.

Nothing more to add to this really. You simply should’ve been clearer.

any county with a large population is always going to be “mid-tier” on a per capita basis in the Olympics”

As I said, that is blatantly untrue. Own it.

Again, you’ve added an “only” to my original statement. Language is important when it’s all we have to communicate, so do try to be accurate. The major sports in the US are sports very few other countries take seriously. For the vast majority of the world, they don’t have that luxury. You dominate these sports in a manner that you don’t dominate any others (as far as I can see at least), hence you specialise in these sports. It really isn’t rocket science.

This, let's be specific. Western Europeans can't fight
That’s because Western European countries are superior and majority of people can earn better a wages without having to fight.

having said that, the GOAT, Conor is Irish.

I am right. But isn’t anything to be ashamed about.

I live in Europe lol.

Yeah you might be right, however you assume the correlation with population size should be linear. You don't know if it's true actually.

There are plenty of things in life that aren't linear lol. For instance, people constantly talk about how strong ants are for their size, but they don't know strength doesn't grow linearly with size, hence why smaller animals are much stronger relatively to their size.

Anyway, i don't really care. My point was that wealthy countries should be advantaged to produce competitive athletes (if there's a sport culture obviously).
