The key to beat alex pereira handily is pretty easy

Almost everyone seems to forget Pereira got out clinched in his first fight in the UFC against a nobody lol

Went life and death with Bruno Silva who just got finished by Meershaert

One of the most overhyped, fast-tracked guys in UFC history

lol, what makes Izzy so much better than Alex in the clinch? He's much better than JDS because he was an actual kickboxer. He KO'd a bunch of guys with knees.

Prime Shael, Lindland, Hendo, Gsp or Weidman would dominate Pereira but I don’t think Israel will take him down repeatedly. Israel has decent tdd but nonexistent offensive wresslin.

I loved how Charlie Olives countered the lead hook with a back take when fighting Dustin.

Which someone would to that to him.
Also it's weird how fighting Izzy and Whittakers seems like an easier match up for Alex than Vettori and Brunson

1- easier said than done..

2- Alex has a NASTY and very crisp tight left hook, so good luck getting in there.

3- you think he hasn't been working on clinch with Glover this whole time?
While it's not as easy as TS makes it sounds, a couple of counterpoints:
  • He's not going to catch everyone who closes the distance with a super powerful left hook. No one is good enough to do that every time, especially in MMA when you also have to watch people diving for your legs
  • His grappling is all speculation until it's tested. We've seen many fighters train with elite MMA guys (and sometimes elite specialists in BJJ, wrestling, striking, etc.) but never become very skilled in areas outside their wheelhouse. Alex is 35 and spent the vast majority of his life in pure kickboxing. He may or not may develop serviceable skills in TDD, sub-defense, clinching, etc.

Key to beating anyone in a fight:

Be a better fighter than them.
Not necessarily. Anyone who's watched the sport for a while knows that styles make fights. Alex might be able to beat Izzy in an almost pure striking match, but lose to guys Izzy can beat due to his lack of experience in other areas of MMA.

I think the public in general will be surprised by how this fight plays out because all they know is that this guy knocked out Izzy. I honestly think this fight won’t be close and Izzy wins convincingly.

As far as some of thoughts on Alex being fast tracked go….Who else was Izzy supposed to be fight? No one can deny that Alex has been fast tracked….But Izzy has cleaned out his division. Barring Izzy moving up in weight again, there was no one left for him.

Pressure + fighting inside+ take down
First all I'm not a hater of this guy I just think he is not proven as an mma fighter, he just beat a couple of bums and uber drivers.. Sean strickland is a legit win but guy fought in a very stupid way
I think the best way to beat this guy is to put pressure, put him against the fence cain velasquez style and box the shit out of him in close distance body shots dirty boxing elbows, hit the body, he can't generate too much power in his shots when in clinch then take him down, He is long so I dont think he is good fighting inside, also he cuts a lot of weight and doesnt seem to be that strong pysically.
Everyone here know that the ufc put this guy favorable matchups to fast track a title fight vs adesanya

The problem is Izzy isn't that style of fighter

the guy has a positive record, someone should have told this to his opponents, I don't think they are finding it easy

Derek brunson could follow this gameplan and beat poatan.. Just takes a good fighter
Brunson almost cries every time he takes a shot with any decent strenght. Would probably get KOd just with the wind of a left hook from Pereira

Sorry but this is mildly amusing. Just do this and that.

You may be right but that’s not how Izzy fights. IIRC the reason why Izzy lost to Alex in kickboxing was because he got caught in a firefight and was put down. While they were exchanging at range Izzy was winning those fights.
I hope I'm wrong but that's probably why the third fight is going to be a total borefest. Under no circumstances will Izzy allow himself to get KO'd again, this time at "his" sport, so he's going to avoid close exchanges at all costs and just hit and run--and he's good enough to pull that off.

"I'm not a hater but he has only fought Uber drivers...."

<YeahOKJen>

bro, what? The guy is amazing fighting on the inside and seems super strong. Yes, he probably loses against good grapplers in the division, but he is fighting Israel.
This. Don't think he understands the inside is a strong point for Pereira. He throws short power shots, so he can generate power without needing much space. He will have knees and elbows in the clinch so unless your clinch fighting is better than his, it's not really going to benefit you trying to fight him on the inside or to clinch fight with him. Everything mentioned on this post is part of his strengths, he must think those are his weaknesses because he hasn't seen him fight much like that in UFC, but that's because the fighters he is fighting are avoiding those positions for a reason.

Holyfield beat the fuck out of Tyson inside

Lennox and Bowe beat up all the short guys they faced on the inside, same with Fury

In MMA Jones is probably the best clinch fighter we've seen

Holyfield beat Tyson on the inside with nonstop headbutts and grappling yes.
