GLORY 87:
4-man Heavyweight Tournament & Lightweight Title Fight
GLORY 87 takes place August 19 live from the Rotterdam Ahoy arena in the Netherlands and promises to be another thrilling night on the GLORY kickboxing calendar.
A four-man one-night heavyweight tournament will take centre stage with the winner punching his ticket into the historic GLORY Heavyweight Grand Prix this December for a chance to win a life-changing $500,000.
The four participants are WAKO and World Games gold medalist Bahram Rajabzadeh (62-1, 56 KO), former GLORY light-heavyweight title challenger Mohamed Amine (29-5, 16 KO) (MMA: 6-2), Dutch giant and former Enfusion heavyweight champion Martin Terpstra (21-5, 11 KO), and the bruising power puncher Uku Jürjendal (18-7, 14 KO).
Bahram Rajabzadeh will face Mohamed Amine in the semi-finals, with Martin Terpstra facing off against Uku Jürjendal. Winners will meet in the tournament final and main-event of the evening.
A huge international title fight will feature in the co-main event as reigning & defending GLORY lightweight champion Tyjani Beztati (24-4, 9 KO) will put his title on the line against RISE, SHOOT BOXING and KNOCK OUT champion Kaito Ono (51-6-1, 22 KO).
Beztati has emerged as one of the top fighters in his division thanks to recent title defenses against Petch, Koprivlenski, and Jauncey. Now he goes up against Japanese star Kaito Ono, who's riding an eighteen-fight unbeaten streak.
Both fighters are 25 years old and this contest could very well determine the best in the world at lightweight.
In addition, former GLORY welterweight champion Murthel Groenhart (69-26-3, 40 KO) (MMA: 3-0) goes up against rising German star Cihad Akipa (49-11, 18 KO) (MMA: 6-0) in an old-fashioned “Experience vs. Youth” affair, and Michael Boapeah (15-3-1, 7 KO) takes on Sergej Braun (43-12, 27 KO) in a rematch of their electric fight at GLORY Collision 4 last year.
Rising Dutch star “The Diamond” Jan Kaffa (19-3, 7 KO) will open the main-card against Morocco’s Mohamed El Hammouti (7-1, 4 KO), in a bout between two bright prospects.
Prelims:
Imad Hadar (23-2, 9 KO), training partner of UFC heavyweight star Ciryl Gane, will take on Bartosz Muszyński (26-3), with both fighters aiming to secure their first victory inside the GLORY-ring. Lastly, a reserve bout for the heavyweight tournament will kick-off the card as Serbia’s Nikola Filipovic (10-2, 6 KO) takes on the debuting Romanian Cristian Ristea (44-10, 21 KO) in what should be an explosive start to the night.
GLORY 87 takes place Saturday, August 19 live from Rotterdam Ahoy, the Netherlands.
Prelims start at 1pm ET / 10am PT / 19:00 CET and will be streamed live for free on GLORY’s YouTube channel and GLORY's FAST Channels.
