Jiri Prochazka is not a fan of fights going to the judges’ scorecards.

According to Prochazka, with three different judges scoring the fight there are too many variables at play in arriving at the result. “BJP” would rather have two fighters simply go to battle with no time limits or no judges like in the early days of the UFC.

“I think the fights, especially in the UFC, can’t end for the points. Because for the points everytime there is a referee [judge], one referee is for him, one referee is for him and tell me, who wins. I think the best time for fighting was when that’s end for like no time limit…Bring it back,” Prochazka said recently on "The MMA Hour.”

If fights were to go on longer, Prochazka might have a slight advantage thanks to his past experience in Rizin Fighting Federation. The Czech was a light heavyweight champ in the Japanese promotion, which prior to 2018 had a rule set that featured a 10-minute first round followed by two five-minute rounds. According to Prochazka, once a fighter has accepted the initial shock of fighting beyond five minutes, they can focus on channelling their true warrior spirit.

Completely concur ... been watching this shit since UFC I,

"No biting, no eye-gouging" ... the only rules.
Head-butts, nut-shots, knees on the ground ... ALL LEGAL

Fights were way more exciting and unpredictable.

And, most importantly, Aljamain would have never made Champion <Lmaoo><45>

Purely from a fighting perspective and 'who wins a fight', no time limits make sense. The break and the cornering advice between rounds and all that is very artificial.

But from a broadcast / presentation experience it could be nightmarish to have potentially very lengthy drawn out fights

Terrible idea and really, what purpose what it serve? You know the rules going into the fight and if there is a massive issue with the credibility of judges, then that problem should be addressed directly... this is a bad solution for a completely different problem.

In an ideal world, this would lead to more exciting fights with dynamic finishes but in reality it would likely lead to extremely sloppy Rolles Gracie/Kimbo vs Dada 5000 style endings which would completely jeopardize the sport after just a few cards. Not to mention broadcast restrictions... how they hell could you plan showtimes, commercial time slots, PPV windows, etc when you don't even know how long a card could possibly be? lol

Personally, I think losing via controversial decision is a grossly overrated issue because as we've seen time and time again, MMA is not a legitimate sport. It's not like there's a tournament bracket to determine the next title challenger and fighters are directly missing out. We've seen countless "promised title shots" not be delivered as well as many "gift title shots" given to undeserving but popular challengers so any logical person has to realize that popularity determines opportunities; not record.

Stipe came out of the controversial JDS loss with infinitely more popularity and was fast tracked to a title shot. Korean Zombie lost to Garcia and got ktfo immediately after by George Roop and still enjoyed prominent spots on cards for the rest of his career despite mixed success because he was exciting and fans were behind him.

Attitude determines a lot in life and a fighter can choose to be active, come back stronger from a loss with something to prove, and earn themselves a lot more money which is really the goal at the end of the day. Or, they can go the Gustaffson route and bitch online for years from the sidelines until they run out of money and get their teeth knocked out when it's too late for a comeback. UFC matchmaking typically treats a close loss as equal to or greater than a win so fighters need to stop focusing on self-pity and use that frustration as motivation.

TL/DR: This "solution" is ridiculous and will never happen. Either come back from a close loss motivated to be better next time or give up because time limit fights to the sloppy end is straight up fantasy

No thanks.. just imagine no time limit for the last UFC main event Lewis vs Almeida.. I mean the fight would still be going on right now as we speak, that fight would be never ending. This so called "ground wizard" Almeida has the mount about 100 times, the side mount about 50 times and didn't have a clue what to do, keeps looking over at his corner on what to do?? virtually no ground 'n' pound, and Lewis is laying like he is on the beach enjoying the sand, doesn't have a care in the world, and has no urgency to get up.

That fight would last until the next PPV, may even run past it actually, and don't give me that nonsense that Lewis would gas if it was still going on... he was laying asleep on his back the entire time like he was in beddy.

Yeah, no thanks...

Yeah, no thanks...

Conversely, just imagine the UFC GETTING RID OF pieces of shit like that, fat fuks, who lay around and "wait for the end of the round."

Imagine the selection process being geared for fighters (like Dalby and Bonfim) ... who came to kill or be killed.

You probably were not around when the first UFC's were happening, but 99% of thus fights were more exciting than the ship that goes on today.
