Striking wise he should be able to easily pick apart DDP. His footwork would draw out those bad habits that Strickland wasn't able to and Pereira can punish him quickly for it.
Can he handle the grappling or weight cut? Probably not, he's added muscle since moving up and his chin was already compromised and DDP is extremely strong with good takedowns and good top control.

At LHW I'd pick Pereira easily since he should have the physical advantages to avoid grappling for long stretches but at MW I just can't phathom he'd be able to make the cut without messing himself up.

DDP would take him down at will

DDP is too sloppy and he can’t hold position. He might also have some of the most atrocious striking defense at MW, his only defense is essentially his offense.

Anything to avoid champs actually defending against the top contenders in their divisions.

the best is when people say he's one of if not the GOAT of combat sports lol. like he doesn't get favorable match ups and fast tracked to title shots and to the top of divisions vs the best stylistic match ups.

Can we just appoint Alex interim MW champ and have him fight Aspinal for double interim champ?

Hopefully his fight with Aspinall is controversial so they can hold up the division with immediate rematches and rubbermatches

Too many people just accepting this. The opportunity to become a multi-weight champion should be a special opportunity for a select few, it should really mean something. If a champion wants to change weight classes and challenge for a belt they should either A) vacate their belt, move up and win some top 10 fights to earn it or B) Defend their title numerous times to where there is no clear deserving contender.
