Yeah, Arrowhead CEO replied candidly late last week not to buy the game right now and just to wait, saying he doesn't want any player to have problems playing; they're working around the clock on it, he adds. I appreciated the candour there in saying to wait, TBH. And their transparent comms with the playerbase has been an olive branch of a kind, IMO, but I think they need to push something.
How hard is it to scale servers? GaaS Warframe, for example, still runs all missions on a P2P server network with host migration when squaddie host quits or mission completes; the scalability (like what Helldivers is facing) comes baked-in. The other approach is, of course, dedicated game servers and Sony can take the hand there, surely.
The game launched only a fortnight ago tomorrow, so it's too early to talk end of the world – but the problem is what feels like every day the whole world is watching, lol.
