PlayStation Helldivers II

God damn do I have a terrible habit of reloading after every encounter no matter how small.

Kill a bug using 2 rounds, better reload. Getting absolutely punished for that habit and trying to break it. Constantly low on ammo because of it.
From the two games I played, I did the exact same thing and I see myself doing it in the future once I can log on. It's weird because I feel that in other games the bullets are what counts and not the magz. Meaning, if your mag holds 10 and you reload at 3, 7 would enter the chamber leaving you with remaining 3. Then again, maybe that's how it works here and I just didn't realize it.

Nah, you lose whatever was left in the mag. So it punishes you for frequent reloads and you should only reload when needed.

Just unlocked the shotgun and one of it's traits stated that "rounds reload", so you don't lose the shells when reloading.

I've played this way in shooters for years, so it's going to be tough to break.

Small stuff bless. A game in the space that reminded everyone we're here to immerse and have fun:

Problem is PS5 folks aren't having a lot of fun at the moment.

Matchmaking/quickplay is totally broken.

Sounds like this last patch only really somewhat helped PC players.

Can't even play the game I just get a message that servers are at capacity and it keeps trying to get in. I don't have time for that. I'll keep it in my library for now but I'm refunding it before the 2 week period is up if it doesn't get fixed.

Heard Steam isn't refunding the game when folks cross 2 hours of "playtime".

Regardless if you're playing or trying to get in the game.

Yea I assumed something like that would happen so I never let it wait. I could play in the mornings I noticed which is cool but not good enough. I got 1 hour max play time and I wont be booting up the game again until I read that people can get in period.

For people on the PS5 who can't get in at don't open game and have it highlighted and go down until you see quick play it lets you into the game

Yeah, Arrowhead CEO replied candidly late last week not to buy the game right now and just to wait, saying he doesn't want any player to have problems playing; they're working around the clock on it, he adds. I appreciated the candour there in saying to wait, TBH. And their transparent comms with the playerbase has been an olive branch of a kind, IMO, but I think they need to push something.

How hard is it to scale servers? GaaS Warframe, for example, still runs all missions on a P2P server network with host migration when squaddie host quits or mission completes; the scalability (like what Helldivers is facing) comes baked-in. The other approach is, of course, dedicated game servers and Sony can take the hand there, surely.

The game launched only a fortnight ago tomorrow, so it's too early to talk end of the world – but the problem is what feels like every day the whole world is watching, lol.

It's the most fun I've had playing a game in a long, long time. The frustration mounts because I want to play the game, haha. I rarely seek out harder modes and I'm doing that in this game because the chaos is a blast.

All I see from Arrowhead is talking and rushing out patches that don't really help nor seem to do anything. Players providing 'work arounds' for 'X' only makes the studio lazy in my eyes, as the studio knows people can still do 'X' so fixing it becomes a lesser priority.. like them dragging ass on restoring matchmaking/quickplay for PS5.

I'd rather them take the game offline and fix things if that's what it takes, as it's obvious the hot fixing isn't effective. If the CEO was that serious about people not buying the game right now, perhaps they wouldn't be selling it until the issues are diagnosed and resolved.

Sony needs to have already stepped in to help out. Goodwill is deteriorating the longer these issues persist.

Also, how do they release this game without an AFK kicker? A player can literally stay signed in as long as they want right now.

Aaaand squad leaders randomly kicking people for whatever reason shouldn't be possible either, I've seen it happen and it's happened to me.

It's not the server side as much as the problem but the backend code, they've already increased it x 4 and there's only 4 at the studio who can do that stuff

the escort researchers mission is pure torture there has to be some trick to it cause we can't beat it, at the challenging level and I don't know if we ever did it at medium tbh.

Yea this isn't a server issue. They didn't build the code apparently to scale this high it was completely unexpected. With that said it does seem like PS5 players are having way more luck than PC players getting in.

I just went ahead and refunded it on PC. I'll pickup the PS5 version. Both of my friends have been able to play every night.

thats a shame. I was stuck waiting as well and my buddy sent me an invite thru steam. Connected immediately. If you have pc friends who play this might the sneaky way of skipping the line.

Been doing the same thing on ps5. Makes no sense how that works.

Got to agree with this:

#Helldivers2 boss says over-hiring devs would be a 'horrible' response to the game’s success 🎮

"The act of over-hiring to then do layoffs is a horrible practice and a bad experience for employees"

Some fixes pushed as of 2h ago to incl. AFK timeout kick:

🛠 Support incoming! ⚙
We have issued a patch for PS5 and PC players to address AFK players, stability and crashes, and continued backend performance improvements.

Downloaded it this morning. Played about 30mins of missions before getting kicked out and couldn't get back on.

Shame about the server but man this game is amazing. Can't wait until they properly fix everything as I'm going all in when they do. Seems pretty epic so far.

Played a lot last night. Game is really fun. It makes no sense how I have a server queue when I try to get in the normal way but can immediately join my friends.

Actually getting to play squad up this morning.

Aaand it appears to be in the process of shitting out again.

Guess the streamers are starting to wake up.
