*** Anthony Joshua vs. Francis Ngannou Aftermath Discussion MEGA THREAD ***

What boxing fight makes the most sense for frank now?

Andy Ruiz or someone lower?
Ruiz is looking jacked lately and he had surgery on all the injuries he was fighting with. He could make a run at that title

Good, now he can stop this foolishness and get back to his real sport. I wouldn't be surprised if he loses in MMA soon either though! Let's face it, his skills are limited.
This wasnt foolishness. It was about money and he got the money. Secured the bag.

Holly Holm, who fraud-checked Ronda "I can beat Floyd Mayweather" Rousey's boxing skills.
Ronda would have beaten mayweather tho

Francis would transfer better to bkfc but he will lose some grappling ability if he doesn't practice it every day.

Well, the guy made a fortune in two fights in one year. It would have taken him many more years to draw that fortune in MMA. And he still can and likely will compete in MMA for a huge payday, if he chooses to get away from boxing.

At least he got a sizable payday. Sucks he lost, but those shots he got hit with were nasty. No chin is uncrackable if the right punch lands in the right place.

UFC athletes simply are not up to par athleticism or skill-wise compared to those of other combat sports, let alone major league sports. We saw how Israel Adesanya and Alex Pereira came into the UFC and blew through numerous champions and championship contenders just with some rudimentary TDD knowledge. We saw how highly ranked UFC fighters Ben Askren, Tyron Woodley, and Anderson Silva all got dropped/folded by a Youtube influencer. And now MMA's final hope Ngannou got knocked out cold.

And before you say that so-or-so other combat sport athlete would not last a minute against UFC fighters in MMA, never forget that Ray Mercer knocked a former UFC champion Tim Sylvia out cold in his prime. Nobody in MMA has ever achieved the converse - Ngannou was the closest but we just saw how that went.

The truth is that the UFC is barely a step up from BKFC - it's just mandated brawling under the guise of combining martial art styles. What do you expect when C-level boxers and kickboxers (which all UFC fighters are) go up against A-level boxers and kickboxers?
You're really gonna ignore that izzy and alex pereira had to develop great takedown and submission defense huh? What about all the other kickboxers who tried and failed?

Nicksick confirmed it was indeed only a 3 fight deal and that the holdup was a loss dropped the pay for $8M/per fight.

Which... yes...? Why would Ngannou make championship pay if he's no longer champion?

As to your second point, yes, Francis himself said he missed $7M by not fighting the UFC's contracts for fights he fought anyways, and that's not even counting had he simple won the Stipe fight and gotten the built in contender-to-champion purse there in and then.

Francis' purse problems have always been that he wanted to leave the UFC so wouldn't sign their contracts.

The UFC proved tonight they were right about that.
The fact that he got a 2nd payday, even bigger than the first means Ngannou won, if someone had to be right about it, everyone knew he was going to lose to Fury, badly, he didnt, now he lost to another guy, badly, but for even more money, im not sure if he gets another try considering how bad he lost tonight, but he got what he wanted, money and try boxing.

Frank Mir got f-cked up by Kubrat Pulev.
At the end of a night where MMA fighters were getting the better of boxers under what was essentially boxing matches with MMA gloves in a triangle ring. Also Pulev had faced AJ like a year before.
Ngannou just got knocked out cold.
By a top 3 ranked boxer, and before that was arguably robbed against the guy that people at the time were calling no1 and hailing as some ATG.
Tyron Woodley got put out cold. Ben Askren, Anderson Silva, Nate Diaz also lost to a Youtube influencer.

Other than Askren they put up a better fight than the 17-2 and 10-1 actual career boxers Jake has just stopped in the first round.

Also, once again, Ray Mercer. Enough said.

1-3 in combat sports outside of boxing.

He was literally 7-0 in boxing <45>
That reminds me, remember when Fedor got the snot beaten out of him by Fabio Maldonado, who in boxing was only can crusher level?

Fabio was cool as fuck, loved his run in the UFC!

Ah yes Maldonado who went on a 26 fight win streak in boxing and at like 40 was going the distance with Takam and top 10 ranked at the time Rivas. Stipe stopped him in 35 seconds in his prime....
