12. RESIDENT EVIL 6 Set for Release on September 12, 2014
Keri Russell will take the female lead in Fox’s Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, opposite Andy Serkis, Jason Clarke, Kodi-Smit McPhee and Gary Oldman. Fox has set the film for release on May 23, 2014. Matt Reeves replaced Rupert Wyatt, who had directed 2011’s franchise reboot Rise of the Planet of the Apes, in October. Additional details about Russell’s character were not immediately available. Script is penned by Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver.
The film takes place 15 years after the events of the first movie, and the story is said to be split between a small human colony struggling to survive alone in San Francisco and Caesar’s (Andy Serkis) attempt to maintain dominance over his kingdom. Oldman is set to play the leader of the human colony.
Russell has some history with Reeves, as she previously toplined the popular television series Felicity which was created and run by Reeves and J.J. Abrams. The actress is coming off a strong return to television with FX’s excellent 1980s Russian spy series The Americans and was most recently seen on the big screen in Dark Skies.

8. Christopher Nolan In and Christian Bale Out of JUSTICE LEAGUE?
A couple of days ago, Latino Review's El Mayimbe broke the news that Christopher Nolan will help usher in Justice League as a producer as well as godfather some of DC's other superhero movies. Mayimbe also reported that not only will Nolan be back, but he will be bringing Christian Bale with him to reprise his role as Batman. The report went on to say that Man Of Steel director Zack Snyder will be on the Justice League producing team as well, and could possibly direct.
Now, here is what CBM is hearing from their source at Warner Bros. Yes, Nolan is involved. He is playing this pretty close to the vest, which is why you will not hear anything official about Justice League until after Man Of Steel comes out. The source reveals in regards to DC and WB producing future superhero movies, "Fans' enthusiasm for more movies will be rewarded once Man of Steel comes out." Deb Snyder, Zack Snyder's wife, will be producing as well.
Unfortunately for some, CBM is hearing that Christian Bale will NOT be back as Batman. They are looking to recast the character and go with a new story. Another rumor that has floated around is that Will Beall's script has been thrown out, and David Goyer will be writing the movie. However, Beall's script is still in play, and that Goyer may do some rewrites or consult on the movie, but he will not write the movie. "If Bale is coming back and Goyer is penning, it's news to Warner Bros," the source said. With all things though, until this is officially announced mark it down as a rumor for now.

9. Halle Berry Confirmed to Return in X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST
Director Bryan Singer has added yet another returning star in the jam-packed cast for his upcoming comic book film X-Men: Days of Future Past. Reports have Halle Berry confirmed to return as the white-haired, weather-manipulating mutant, and joins a cast already composed of many other X-Men alumni. The actress will be starring alongside other big names such as James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellan, Hugh Jackman, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page and Peter Dinklage when the film opens July 18, 2014.
Deadline reports that Berry will indeed return to reprise her role as Storm in Singer’s X-Men: Days of Future Past. Although Berry had never stated that she was in fact looking to return, it had been previously reported that the star was “90% confident” that she would reprise her role in the X-Men film. That story turned out be correct when she confirmed in an interview with Blacktreetv that Storm would in fact return, albeit in an unknown capacity. Also, earlier today Bryan Singer took to Twitter, a favorite of his for breaking production and casting news for the film, to state:
“Couldn’t be more excited that #HalleBerry has joined the cast of #XMen#DaysofFuturePast. Hopefully she can improve the weather in Montreal.”

10. MONSTER HOUSE's Gil Kenan to Direct POLTERGEIST Remake
With news that Gil Kenan (Monster House) will be directing MGM’s reboot of Poltergeist, you can finally put to rest the rumors of Sam Raimi (Evil Dead) sitting in the captain’s chair. Raimi will still be behind the scenes as a producer on the remake of Tobe Hooper’s 1982 classic horror film. Written by committee, the most recent adaptation has seen work by David Lindsay-Abaire (Oz the Great and Powerful), Scott Derrickson (Sinister), Juliet Snowden (The Possession), Stiles White (Boogeyman) and Paul Harris Boardman (The Exorcism of Emily Rose). That’s quite the mix of horror writers in there, with Lindsay-Abaire holding it down for the familial aspect of the story that centers on a suburban home possessed by spirits.
Deadline reports that Kenan will indeed be directing the Poltergeist reboot, but few other details are available. Kenan, best known for his Oscar-nominated feature Monster House, only helmed one other feature in his career: 2008′s adaptation of the Jeanne Duprau novel City of Ember.

11. Kevin Smith Begins Writing Script for CLERKS III
Last month, filmmaker Kevin Smith was quoted as saying he wanted to do Clerks III as a book first, telling a story in episodic chapters that would come before the sequel. Today, Smith is moving forward with plans to make Clerks III his finale movie. He posted on his Facebook page that he has started writing the third film:
"THE BEGINNING OF THE END
20 years ago today, we started shooting CLERKS.
20 years later, with no plan or provocation, I jumped out of bed at 4:20 this morning and started writing CLERKS III.
It's been like hanging out with old friends.
And after 2 hours of tapping the keys and giggling, I have come to a conclusion...
CLERKS III will be the best film I'll ever make."
Jeff Anderson and Brian O'Halloran played Randal Graves and Dante Hicks, respectively, in the original 1994 Clerks. A pair of young slackers working minimum wage customer service jobs, they reprised their roles for a short-lived animated series and then returned to the big screen in 2006's Clerks II.

12. RESIDENT EVIL 6 Set for Release on September 12, 2014
Fans of the Resident Evil film franchise can now rest easy knowing that the story will continue in at least one more feature. The folks over at STYD have learned that Resident Evil 6 has been given a September 12, 2014 release date, confirming that the sequel will indeed be moving forward. Though last year’s Paul W.S. Anderson-helmed feature Resident Evil: Retribution broke the series’ impressive streak of each film grossing more than its predecessor, its final total of $221 million worldwide is nonetheless striking and Sony/Screen Gems is clearly happy to get another film going.
Resident Evil 6 is currently the only film scheduled for its date in September of 2014, but that should change soon. Anderson previously revealed last September that he had a story in mind for Resident Evil 6 that involved a lot of death and would possibly bring the franchise to a close.
