The water is not safe to drink there. You can grab a large bottled water from the 7-11 for 14THB. Some hotels will provide you with a couple of bottled waters a day.
I've been there... 12 times? 13 times? I have yet to fall off a building. Just don't do anything (too) stupid.
Outside of training - which is obviously a fixed rate for all - there's a lot of flexibility in your other expenses. At the gym, you can save a little bit if you pay for a bunch of classes in advance. That only makes sense if you plan on attending every single session, otherwise you're throwing...
If you're uncomfortable on a scooter, stay close to the gym (there are a ton of options) and rent a bicycle. Taxis in that area are difficult to come by. You can't just stand outside and wave one down; you'll have to hire one through a shop. The good thing is nearly every shop can put you in...
Pot no longer works at Sinbi. He's at Siam Muay Thai Academy in Chalong.
Sinbi is a different gym now, but I was there a few weeks ago and it was good. I've been going to Sinbi since it opened, having first met Sing while he was a trainer at Rawai Muay Thai. I've probably been back... maybe 10...
Yeah, deep in my heart, I knew that about any time I spent with Saenchai. But the lure of the chance to work with him directly was too great. I was at Sinbi while he was there, but I didn't get to clinch with him the one afternoon he spent training with students because a millipede had crawled...
This depends a lot on your skill and fitness level, goals, etc. For me, personally, I strongly prefer trainer feedback during pad and bag work. I love to spar, but if I had to choose between an attentive pad holder and a few rounds of sparring, I'd choose the former. So, in a situation like...
I haven't posted here in a while, but I've been to Thailand... 13 times (somewhere around there) since 2006. I've been to a lot of different camps in Bangkok as well as Phuket. I just returned from a trip (landed the day the King died, unfortunately) and I just wanted to give some quick thoughts...
Haha. Just got back from Bangkok. I think Nana was closed for a few days. It's back open, back to its usual self, only they're closing at midnight right now rather than 2AM.
Good write-up, but the teep is an odd choice for closing distance. To me, at least. I guess the caveat here is that you said you need a follow-up. But anyone with a halfway decent teep is going to create more distance after closing it. I do love to use the fake teep for this purpose.
I wouldn't recommend those shin guards for any sort of serious sparring. I have a few pairs of shin guards, including a pair similar to that, that I'll only use for light sparring since they're so thin. It's not particularly fair to your partner when they have legitimate pads on and you're...
Holly's team said she held back in her previous fights. Whether you believe them or not, 6 out of her 7 fights before the UFC ended up KO/TKO.
As for allegedly staggering improvements to her striking, I'm not even sure how you could measure something like that given how quickly her fights...
The armbar attempt was fairly early, I think. So I don't think Ronda was too frazzled... yet.
And Holly was 1-1 for takedowns while Ronda was 0-1. So you could say Holly outstruck and outgrappled her.
