He made a dozen tweet jokes that were related to pedophilia and he has joked about everything from 9/11 to Holocaust to whatever. He averages like what? 2-5 tweets per day... for years... I don't tweet so I wouldn't know but steady tweeters probably have an insane amount of tweets... A dozen tweets among the thousands is not an obsession.

He also produced, directed and starred in a series called "James Gunn's PG Porn" (right after Slither I think) and he's basically spoofing pornographic movies using well known porn stars with mainstream actors (nobody top tier obviously). Involved with a weird game called lollipop chainsaw.
