Police reaction is a classic
I'm surprised the cop didn't fire, after he was black.
Police reaction is a classic
I would imagine that a lot of mentally unwell people who have resigned themselves to their fate kill themselves quite calmly. This is not accurate actually it just depends on what the person loves. If the love they have for the other is greater than for themselves, they may see a reason to give their life to raise awareness.
That's not necessarily mental illness and this guy seemed extremely calm on the way to doing it as the video reveals.
The US is currently committing genocide? That's news to me.his final post
I'm sure you would, but that's just a really pathetic use of imagination when considering all of the possibilities here. It is possible he's mentally ill, but it's also possible that he gave his life in sacrifice for a cause he deeply believed in.I would imagine that a lot of mentally unwell people who have resigned themselves to their fate kill themselves quite calmly.
The idiot had his weapon at the people who were trying to provide help to the air force dude. He was dangerous.Easy to armchair. If a dude is trying to light himself on fire I'm going to not take chances personally.
You don't have to set yourself on fire to give your life to a cause. Plenty of ways to do it without going to this extreme. This is not accurate actually it just depends on what the person loves. he probably means indirectly by not stopping the israelis, which america could immediately. The US is currently committing genocide? That's news to me.

None of these are arguments at all as far as I can tell. That there are other possibilities is kind of a given, isn't it? I don't really see the thought you've put into this from your post frankly. You don't have to set yourself on fire to give your life to a cause. Plenty of ways to do it without going to this extreme.
You don't have to be crazy like The Joker, drooling, or have a twitch to be off mentally in some capacity either. You can calmly do plenty of crazy things because you think the crazy shit you're doing isn't crazy.
Obviously, we can't say with certainty what his mental health was, but killing yourself in this fashion, at his age, when he's not even the one directly involved on either side screams of something being wrong.
But they aren't committing genocide either.he probably means indirectly by not stopping the israelis, which america could immediately.
It might draw attention to the issue but why should anyone change their opinion because of what he did?All the people saying he will accomplish nothing are just themselves completely fixed in their position moving instantly to hatred of the other.
There are many, many people who are compassionate and thoughtful who will be influenced by this man's actions. It's either a kind of lie or profound ignorance to suggest otherwise frankly.
He may have felt it was well worth giving his life just to bring attention and some people's minds to be opened around the horrors going on in Palestine.
Only an age completely defined by selfishness can lose the awareness that giving one's life for a cause is a deep act of love or can be a deep act of love.
It's an age defined by a 24 hour news cycle where we're constantly bombarded with information. All the people saying he will accomplish nothing are just themselves completely fixed in their position moving instantly to hatred of the other.

You don't really see this as some profound act of martyrdom do you?None of these are arguments at all as far as I can tell. That there are other possibilities is kind of a given, isn't it? I don't really see the thought you've put into this from your post frankly.
When you said this day and age though is the one part that made me think. Yeah, you're right... In this day and age defined by profound selfishness an act of martyrdom does seem insane, but that's only because we've lost any love for the other and only care about ourselves.
Whether or not he was mentally ill I don't know. But I do know that love could drive a person to this action and care for something more than yourself could drive a person to this action.
Reading through this thread, the thing that interests me most is how almost nobody can comprehend that kind of love anymore. And the saddest thing about that is that most of them probably could comprehend an act of love like that as long as it didn't conflict with their position on this topic.
So it's not an intellectual incapacity to understand the subject of martyrdom. It's a willful ignorance in protection of a pet theory or idea.
You use the word should and I wouldn't want to defend why someone should. But I think that's extremely narrow framing of the potential of his act.It might draw attention to the issue but why should anyone change their opinion because of what he did?

You should not pretend certainty when you don't have it.
