Aleksander Emelianenko vs Gabriel Gonzaga, 5th May

People sleep on Gonzaga and how good a non USADA G-Man can be. He is an elite black belt. Let us not forget that Mirko struggled more mightily with Gonzaga than Aleks was, who suffered no damage by the way and put on a McGregor vs Mendes performance and showed massive leaps from his old self, when he surely would have cracked and looked for a way out.

Looks like Gonzaga gassed himself out on the ground in the first round.. idc.

Lol he was getting hit by Gonzaga R1, what are you talking about..
Aleks fans are so delusional.. Hunt, Stipe and Ngannou would KO Aleks R1, i've no doubt about that.

Hunto isn't what he used to be, Stipe got hit by Werdum, and Ngannou is just a giant can and a half now that we know the dudes cardio is the worst of all time

Alex looked good standing, but looks like he should try to avoid BJJ blackbelts in the future.

I want to see Alex vs Cro Cop, that would be sweet.
Alex has the power + the kind of handspeed that is unreal for a HW MMA fighter his size (nowadays mainly single shots, not the combination puncher than he used to be), his TDD and his ground game need some work, but he could still be in a few fun fights.

nice to see he at least didnt gas out from the ground game, he kept gonzaga in half guard and then escaped that mount gonzaga had for a second. he needs to drill takedown defense or else guys will just shoot for takedowns on him. his standup is savage tho

he threw some fast combos this fight when he had gonzaga hurt. he needs to grapple and wrestle with the beasts they have over there, no reason why he cant improve that part of his game when he lives in that part of the world.

also, the mat looked kinda slippery. multiple guys looked like they were losing their balance from their feet slipping on the mat

miocic wouldn't risk standing with him, unless you mean mauling by gnp

Yes, but overall he has become more of a single shot fighter durning his comeback. He needs to work on his grappling, but he's still a good fighter, the UFC has freaking Derrick Lewis inside the top 10 and Ngannou is also not the greatest grappler out there.

oh yea for sure, the ufc hw division especially isnt much better from the independent scene outside of the top 5 guys like stipe, cain, reem etc. aleks could very well crack the ufc top 10. look at what volkov is doing lol. and like you said, derrick lewis is in the top 10. mark hunt is still in the top 10

Cro Cop said earlier this week on his FB that he has no interest in fighting Aleks. Seems like Mirko is only interested in his revenge tour

Aleks uppercuts are freaking devastating. Aleks looked ok on the ground against Gonzaga being patient and not letting him get full mount or locking up any type of submission. He still needs to work on his TDD he looked a little unsteady on his feet when backing up.

LOL at idiots thinking it was fixed. And to the guy who said he would not be watching russian MMA, cool.. fuck you. We dont need you here.

BTW.. Gonzaga cardio was always bad. Add that to being retired and he gassed by basically doing lay and pray.

Aleks should train TDD.

Good.. Mirko fighting Roy next. And with Mir, Fedor and Kongo under UFC contract that revenge tour could be something!

Aleks looked terrible. super counterable on the feet and poor double leg defense and stagnant off his back. He should keep fighting bums because the guys higher up would ko him or easily take him down.

The match looked 100% fixed. When bullshit referee stood em up, gonzaga didn't do anything, looked he was just waiting for some bigger shot to land on him so he can go down and get aleks his win. Too bad. Last time I watch some corrupted Russian mma organisation.

Hey stupid GG was gassed after trying to mount and sub Aleks. You think he would want to trade while being gassed? Don't be stupid. Aleks just had more gas to finish the fight.

Not to ruin the Alexs Emelianenko nut huggery post fight party, but Lewis, Ngannou and Hunt are way harder to take and hold down than Alexs.

Alexs don't know how to sprawl and off his back he is a beached whale, take the juice out of him under USADA and he would lose again against the likes of Sosnovsky under a minute.
Basically in the UFC he would be one of the worse if not the worst heavyweight on the roster.

LMFAO I remember when keyboard warriors (bums) like you would say Strikeforce fighters wouldn't even be able to make the top 5 in any division in the UFC. Then low and behold UFC bought Strikeforce and just about every fighter in the top 5 in the UFC started falling off the top 10 list like flies. Even better Strikeforce fighters took up all the top contender spots and were even winning the championships. So face the facts we don't know how Aleks would do in the UFC all we know is he has a great fighting style of coming into the cage and looking to KO his opponent by force. I prefer watching HW's like Aleks over say a Stipe lay n pray for 4 full rounds against a 1 round gas tank of Ngannou.
