Antony Smith 30-13

As it's been said, tough to see how he stacks up when hes fought a couple of guys who are unfortunately at this point just names. His striking looks much more clean though and he was hitting Shogun right away and figured him out fast after just a handful of feints.

Give him another contender and see how he stacks up against someone with less fight miles. Plus he was the only fun fighter to watch on the main card so maybe they reward him with a decent fight again.

These noons on here should not be able to make threads

He started his career 9-7 when he was young as shit and small enough to fight at 170.

lol at caring about records in MMA

way to expose yourself.. paint your face

It's almost like he improved or something

No lol, he got smashed five months ago by an unranked Santos. He’s beat two old bums. It also shows the lack of depth at LHW. That being said on the same card give him a Rakic or Darko and he goes away, like he should...

I don't care how you try and swing it

a 30-13 record isn't very good

Yet this guy KOed Shogun

Shogun is 7 years past prime

Majority of his loses are when he was 19-22 age.. had his first pro fight as a teen

He used to be 5-6, he's improved.

If Shogun's prime ended at 24, when did it start?

2005-2006 was his standout years, where he was legitimately one of the the best fighters in the world.

After that, despite the occasional bright spot, he was never really the superstar he was expected to be, for a variety of reasons.

To this day Shogun 2005 is one of the greatest calendar years a MMA fighter has ever had.

Antony Smith just finished two future Hall of Famer. Much respect.

Some guys are just late bloomers. Mark Hunt is basically a .500 fighter, yet he put together enough quality wins late in his career to be on the cusp of title contention a couple of times. Matt Brown is 21-16, but tore off 7 wins in a row and fought for the title.

The overall record doesn't always give an accurate picture of who/what a fighter currently is.

Why don't you down to your local gym and challenge the worse
Dude to 43 fights win 30 of them then you can talk

Yeah, I'm not quite sure why people think beating Shogun Rua in 2018 is deserving of a title shot.

Is anyone actually saying that? The most I've heard was fill in for UFC 227, before Gus bailed on that.
