Maybe if we pack a bunch of ice in the submarine volcanoes we'll get a temperature suitable for the climate change worry warts.
My cognitive abilities are just fine. Common sense wins out on common sense issues.
I'm sure 30 years ago there were two guys just like us having the exact same discussion somewhere where one guy was thinking that we were on the cusp of a great disaster and famine while the other guy was saying that everything seems like it's just fine.
Fast forward 30 years and we're still all okay.
Texas battles second-biggest wildfire in US history
The Smokehouse Creek Fire has now razed 1.1 million acres north of the city of Amarillo.www.bbc.com
People where I live are doing that (PNW). It barely ever rains in the summer anymore and we've been getting wildfire smoke every summer for the last 8 or 9 years, it was never a thing before. In fact my town and several towns near me caught on fire and my friend's house almost burned down. They would've already moved if they could've and I know others who have moved because of the fires.Once again you're right back to tbe partisan hackery, confirming my point that this is all it can be about in your brain. All Mayorkas said was that climate change is a contributing factor to GLOBAL migration, which is correct. I even linked evidence of a HUGE problem facing the largest City south of the border right this second. He also listed poverty and oppression, also correct. But that sent you into a tizzy for some reason and, predictably, all you wanna do is play "my side > your side."
Yes people some people are moving because of climate issues, sorry about your feelings.
the climate doomers are the ones I'm truly fearful of.
Most people take regulation for granted when they live in societies where the main commercial focus is always comfort, convenience, and aesthetic, however this is paired with large-scale commercialism. This became a subject of interest to me when I discovered Strong Towns, because that movement is also big on sustainability. Adjacent to Strong Towns is Climate Town, a very good channel that demonstrates the hand of corporatism turning all this:
What about Dr Doom van Turkey-stein?The word "doom" makes me nervous. Doom, and turkeys.
I don't see why they can't just buy new EVs, replace their heating with electric and get rid of their old gas appliances. Your grandma gave up Aqua net to save the world once, you can't come up with 100K to save it once more?
Yeah anyone who has any experience in the waste industry knows that a lot of things that were designed in order to preserve the environment are more harmful than the utilities they were meant to replace.Haven't read the entire thread, sorry.
But I found this pretty interesting if true.
EV's are not all they're touted to be apparently.
Electric vehicles release more toxic emissions, are worse for the environment than gas-powered cars: study

Excellent post. Thanks for your insight.Yeah anyone who has any experience in the waste industry knows that a lot of things that were designed in order to preserve the environment are more harmful than the utilities they were meant to replace.
Over 10,000 tons of PV panel waste gets dumped on the shores of Africa every year. I think 10,000 was in 2019 and it goes up every year. The shit that comes out of those things is Fallout 3 tier stuff.
I work in the waste industry and I've gotten a front row seat to how wasteful humans are, and how dangerous that wasteful thinking is. Over the past 15 years I've become very sensitive to that kind of thing, and have reformed my lifestyle considerably. It really bothers me because I go to such painful measures to reduce my own waste and water consumption, and I know that for every person like me, there's got to be at least 1,000 who absolutely don't give a shit. When I see someone being completely thoughtless about consumption, litter, etc and then start multiplying that by like 300 million it makes my heart race. So when people see what I say in the above, a lot of them will think I'm "on the right" and that I don't care about the planet or the environment, but they're wrong.
The problem is the presented solutions are fucking awful. The only thing they do is make the individual person feel better about themselves. If one of your panels cracks, you can't fix it. You have to replace the whole damn unit. Guess where that cracked unit goes, gracious green do-gooder?
And to pre-empt any of the mouth breathers who are going to quote me and distort what I'm saying, I'm not saying that the current model works either. Only that the proposed one is worse.
I appreciate it. There are so many occasions where I think the true answer is either "somewhere in the middle of this" or "Neither of these." This is largely why I have difficulty siding with either corner in the American political arena. That's why someone like AOC (Aside from the fact that I have the hots for her) is a bit of a quandary because what she wants is noble--- environmental solutions that help the planet. But she doesn't know the path to get to that. And I'm not saying I do, but even with the limited experience I have it's painfully obvious that the answers they're supplying won't work.Excellent post. Thanks for your insight.
Until you Climate Change folks get China and India on board and you fully embrace and advocate for nuclear power you're just making noise.
