Conor McGregor was also 4-2 at age 22

And became a double champ with average wrestling and bjj at best. All you sherdog casuals probably would have said Conor would never even win a small promotion belt let alone make it to the ufc since he lacked wrestling and bjj .

Max Holloway at age 22 got out wrestled by Conor and his one knee. did you casuals write max off then?
McGregor only fought one wrestler up to 2016, and that was an injured/short notice Mendes, otherwise McGregor had been protected by the UFC and only booked against non-wrestlers.

Holloway took the fight on short notice and had a broken foot against McGregor, but the same delusional fans who talk about McGregor's injured knee never mention the asterisk of Holloway's circumstances.

0/10 thread.

World of difference, Pico is getting tagged way too much for a guy who's touted as having high level boxing and he's already has been finished brutally once. Conor, who is/was a striking specialist, got submitted. Submission losses are a lot more forgiving than getting knocked out.

Submission (the way Conor lost) defence can be taught way easier than magically making your chin better

Pico is 22 and in love with his hands and finally learned his lesson.

but his dady is not Dana,
who will clear the roads for him ? who will arrange a Siver fight to get a shot at the title for him ?

Albeit, not top tier competition Serra did have to win 3 fights for it, not 1 over essentially similar competition to the Herring win.
True. Another one I thought of was the lady who got wrecked by cyborg. Insta-Title shot.
Different circumstances in that there were very slim pickings for the 145 title picture..

It's a fair OP, just that he got KTFO twice not submitted or decisioned.

It's so weird how everyone forgets Max broke his foot almost immediately after the fight started but cling to Conor's ACL tear.

They also act like 2 week notice Mendes was a worse stylistic match up for Conor than Edgar was back then.

Pico needs composure. He has everything else. His chin is fine, he just get clobbered by a monstrous shot. He gets too amped up and loses his nerve in the cage. Hopefully this doesn't become a mental roadblock, because he has great potential. If he flops, he'll definitely be the biggest wasted talent in MMA history.

pico is really good offensively and then theres his wrestling too.. but he just sort of stood right in front of the guy like a retard there..
fight iq isnt really there yet, who knows if that will come but.. yeah, time to go back and try again

He thought he was more hurt. He said in the post fight he was coached on his power from the clinch but thought he was on the verge. If you watch again that second body shot does stun him for a split second. One more body shot or an uppercut and this would be a different discussion. Kinda crazy we still haven't seen him wrestle in 6 fights

I think the chin stuff is a bit of an overreaction. He ate a huge shot blind. A complete windup movie haymaker.

That would knock a lot of people the fuck out. We know he doesn't have an iron chin, but the defense is the problem.

His chin is a bigger concern than his record or anything else. We'll see if the chin holds up when he starts using proper defense.

I hate hearing this same silly point. He has not been getting KO from weak shots, they have been legit KO shots that would sleep almost anyone. He needs to work on his defense. I noticed his hands worryingly low well before that KO shot when he was punching low with his chin right up in the air.

Conor was handed two title shots at LW and has proven that at his absolute best he is a gatekeeper. Pico is more talented and well rounded now than Conor or Max were then, he's just young and gets himself into stupid situations. When he becomes more patient he will utilize striking and distance more effectively.

The last thing I'll say about Pico is this: You simply can't learn to have a chin. It is one of the intangibles that most elite fighters have, and on your journey to become the best you're going to get hit clean a few times. The best example I can think of is when Michael Johnson leveled Khabib a couple of times. When Pico's chin has been tested he's wound up asleep.
Lol what is this fiction

I agree about this fight. But the uppercut he almost got KO'd by in his debut wasn't that hard. We'll see if he's chinny or not in the upcoming fights. His defense was absolute garbage last night, but I don't know if it's a question of bad strategy or bad technique. I'd like to see him spend at least 2 minutes of the first round just reading his opponent, and then start picking up the pace slowly by establishing the jab and straight right. Launching yourself into the pocket and throwing hooks like he did is for amateurs, it was chocking considering how much boxing (and wrestling) experience he has.
