Dana White Picks Jon Jones Over Khabib Nurmagomedov as MMA GOAT

Some of you have Jones Derangement Syndrome. You've been whinning over Jones nonstop for years, it's time to get help. He's the goat, and the history books will reflect that, no ammount of crying here will change it.

Dana White has given his verdict on the MMA’s greatest of all time debate.

Former lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and reigning heavyweight champion Jon Jones are arguably the two frontrunners in the race for the MMA GOAT along with others like Demetrious Johnson and Anderson Silva. For White, however, there is no question Jones holds the No. 1 spot. “Bones,” who made 13 successful defenses of the light heavyweight belt, returned from a lengthy hiatus to claim the heavyweight crown with a first-round submission of Ciryl Gane at UFC 285. Jones career record stands at 27-1 with one no contest, but his lone defeat was a controversial disqualification loss to Matt Hamill.

“He’s never been beat,” White told Lex Fridman. “He destroyed everyone at light heavyweight, which at the time was the toughest weight class in the company, in the sport. And then he moved up to heavyweight, won easily at heavyweight. And when you look at the guy and you look at what he was doing outside of the Octagon at the same time, which shouldn’t be part of it, shouldn’t be part of the equation. But when you do, wow. You can hate him all you want, Jon Jones is the greatest of all time.”
Meanwhile, Nurmagomedov retired from the sport with a perfect 29-0 record, which included 13 UFC appearances. “The Eagle” retired from the sport after defending his strap for the third time at UFC 254 in 2020, keeping his promise to his mother to not fight after the death of his father. While White acknowledged Nurmagomedov as one of the leading contenders in the GOAT debate, he believes the Dagestani icon retired too soon.

Yeah, jones is the goat. Only other acceptable goats are GSP, Fedor, or DJ.

On steroids against old small middleweights
Since when is rampage, glover, machida, Gane or Gus small middleweights? Jones has more belt fights than Khabib has ufc matches. Most of Khabib’s record is inflated by fighting farmers or children

Jones is twice all their sizes except Gane who had zero grappling

He destroyed everyone at light heavyweight
He arguably lost three times in that division (Gus, Santos, Dom).

Not even close to being true and most of the fighters who built that division were either on the downslide or past their prime by the time Jones won the title.

And then he moved up to heavyweight, won easily at heavyweight.
Only after Ngannou left and before that Dana was accusing Jones of ducking.

Is Dana referring to all the steroids that Jones was taking? Because that's definitely a part of everyone's equation when picking their GOAT.

Who cares, Dana lies so much he could tell me my mother loved me and I wouldn't believe him.

Well duh, Khabib doesn't even belong in the top 5 of the GOAT list, but what do you expect coming from someone who says Usman is the undisputed WW Goat
Biased AF, no reality on the goats.

Khabib is borderline top-10 at best.<codychoke><goldie>

If you go by dominance against opponents, its definitely khabib. Khabib never even bled.

Jones got his ass kicked quite a few times and should have some losses as he got some very questionable calls.

I am a big fan of both fighters, but this isn't really close or should even be up for discussion
11 title defenses vs 3
Quality of opponents/ranked wins/number of champions or former champions beaten - Jones by a landslide
Jones beat a wider variety of elite fighters, Olympic wrestlers, BJJ black belts etc
Jones is more well-rounded and an exceptional striker as well as wrestler.

With that being said, Khabib is also an absolute, dominant legend, but I would put him in the Volk, Izzy, Aldo, Mighty Mouse tier rather than the top tier of fighters (GSP, Silva, Fedor)

It's not even a competition. If you believe Jones' PED-abuse disqualifies him, well, there you have it. Else, Jones' resume is in a different league compared to Khabib's.

Either way, deciding isn't difficult at all.

Khabib is barely top 10, behind Aldo, DJ, probably Adesanya and it may sound crazy but even Poatan will be ahead of him if he get's atleast 2 title defences (belts in 2 divisions, beating 4 MMA champions in their prime, maybe Jan slightly past it but close enough, all this in his first 11 fights).
