the way knees to the head of a grounded fighter spiced up takedown attempts in pride....
“There’s bad publicity. If we really want to go mainstream. People will have to understand that we have to make certain steps,” Sityodtong said.“Everything we are doing, especially with the investment from Temasek and Heliconia, it has really raised the bar for everything that we do in terms of institutionalization of the sport.”
Colorado.Hey you fans that want this rule change…
How many athletic commissions in the US allow knees to the head of a grounded opponent?
Come on you guys you should be able to answer the question.
Yes, we knew that. Any others?Colorado.
Did you see what Anderson Silva did to Rich Franklin? Or what Jorge did to Askren? Should that be legal?
Part of the issue is IMHO if you have soccer kicks and knees you NEED good refs, refs who know when they step in and end fights fast.
Yes, I support it in the UFC and when fights are sanctioned/staffed by the major ACs...but I can also see an expanded rules set being a nightmare on the regional circuit in some states...
A flying knee is just as dangerous, so is a spinning elbow. You are just fixed on the current rules and think everything else is banned for a good reason. But it was a faulty ruleset and a compromise because of the legal history of mma. Now that its accepted, the rules need to be revampedDisagree 100%. The rules are in effect to protect the fighters health. It is good for the fighters and good for the fans. Your favorite fighter is still active because his head was not crushed by an opponents knee.
I do not understand these threads; almost as dumb as the "all fighters should be allowed to take steroids" threads.
I've been saying this for over two decades now. Unified rules suck and were originally created to favor American wrestlers.
I think 3oclock to 9 soccer kicks to a grounded opponent are okay but not 12 to 6 stomps to the head of a grounded opponent squishing their brains into the floor like an American history X curb stomp.I think soccer kicks can never be legal, the highlights will be too brutal for the general public and will for sure create outrage as it looks like soccer hooligan bs.
Grounded knees seem ok though.
