WarBerry

I like the Heavies, gifs, PbP threads, Sportsbook section and long walks on the beach

The gayberry threads normally have lots of comedy in them and quite random. The war room it seems basically after the first three replies just resorts to red Vs blue and the same inane drivel and straw man arguments everyone single time. There doesn't seem to be any common ground for people to discuss things. It's just "You have a gun so you are personally responsible for all school shootings" or "Free health care!!! Fuck no, I'm all right Jack so fuck everyone else, especially minorities who commit all crime!!"

I was like what the fuk is the mayberry room...

LOL, I've cruised it before. I think it's just a forum that is about anything. You got a problem with your woman or boss, goes there. Idea for vacation, goes there.

The burrito was homemade. The trick is to take the tortilla and—

—ok my eye is twitching. I can’t do it. I am not built to talk about superficial things like this.

Wanna discuss how censorship within the modern educational system has made it such that students aren’t exposed to a wide variety of ideas, thus making it possible to exploit and misrepresent the ideas of important philosophers, such like the Hegelian dialectic, thus appealing to a sub-section of far right wing pseudo intellectuals, and the effect this is having on our understanding of media and on the democratic process itself?

This ^^
Is basically how my brain works. It’s kind of torturous honestly.
All right, it's war room time. Now how best for me to emulate that?.. Ah, got it.

'Censorship is just a tool from our democratic dictators.. oh wait, did you say in school? Oh wait, that's our censorship. Well, then that's fine. It's the state's right to.. oh wait, the state disagrees with me too? Oh, then it's a parent's right to change what our kids should be learning. Stop trying to infringe on other people's rights. And by our kids, I don't mean just my kid, I mean yours too. I should choose what your kid can't learn. But again, you can't affect mine. It's very simple when you don't think about it'

As for the burrito, I do it with turkey sausage, onions, peppers, spinach, and throw i some home fries. I find it's better to put a bunch of mild hot sauce in it too to make it juicy, cuz something about microwaving my burritos back to life makes em dry as all fuck

*My brain never shuts off, Sherbro. I've GOT to have some kind of ADHD and/or tism, cuz if I don't keep myself preoccupied with overthinking shit like my breakfast, then I'm going to be tearing myself to shreds in the WR trying to educate the very people who proudly failed their education years ago

I have never been demoted so I don't know of these minion dwellings you talk of.

Haha that was a pretty good WR post impression <45>

I think you make a good point though, and I wish I could sort of channel the shit I overthink. To some extent I can, and I guess it selfishly comes down to topics that interest me. Like, I can talk about whiskey for ages, or certain genres of music of whatever.
In fact, a couple years ago I made a Best Whiskies of the Year thread in Mayberry; I didn’t do one last year, but maybe I’ll slop one together this year.

For breakfast burritos, I do eggs, sausage, green peppers, onions, and salsa. Gotta get a nice char on the outside of the tortilla.

Haha thanks. And yeah, salsa would be a great idea, that would probably solve my dryness problem. See, this is why sharing these completely innocuous ideas is worth it!

Yeah, the trouble with finding the thing you can talk about is just trying to be moderate about how much you go into it vs other things, else people gonna start assuming you have a personality problem or something. I'm not much for really deep knowledge on alcohols themselves, but I've been doing a LOT of cocktail experimentation. Maybe I can learn a bit from a whiskey thread.

That’s actually how my whiskey obsession started—making cocktails. I was at a great cocktail bar some years back and I thought, “How hard could this be to make these drinks?” I decided to learn, and I can make quite a few cocktails. When I decided to recreate a cocktail called Banker’s Punch, I bought a bottle of Redbreast 12 Year Irish Whiskey, and it blew my mind. I got really into Irish whiskey after that, and then bourbon and rye, and over the past few years my love of cocktails has taken a bit of a backseat to buying good and hard-to-find whiskeys.

My favorite cocktail is the Vieux Carre, which is a riff on a Manhattan:

1 oz sweet vermouth (I use Carpano Antica)
1 oz rye whiskey (it has to be rye, not bourbon; Knob Creek rye or Whistlepig Piggyback 6 Year works well)
1 oz cognac (I like Pierre Ferrand Ambre, but Remy Martin VSOP is good too)
1 barspoon of Benedictine
2 dashes Angostura bitters
2 dashes Peychaud’s bitters
Lemon twist or orange twist (both are good, I prefer orange)

Its stirred and can either be served up, like a Manhattan, or my preference which is over a big rock of ice.

—What’s your cocktail of choice?

And yeah, salsa solves the dryness problem in the burrito. I like to add the salsa directly to the burrito before rolling it up, that way it’s consistent with each bite. :)

I now hate burritos. This is why the warroom is so dangerous.

I got a terrible sweet tooth, and I've written (and then adapted to my own reserves) a bit of a mix of 2 things on a white russian, so that's nearly a float. I prefer always trying something new, but that's one I've come back to several times.

When raiding the leftovers of my basement bar (I'm sure I could find better things to do if I actually went out and bought anything), I came up wit

1 oz kahlua
1 oz vodka (used smirnoff vanilla)
.25 oz espresso vodka (i had a little sampler bottle to kill)
little more than .5 oz hiram walker chocolate mint liquor
.25 oz bacardi
.25 oz sambuca (I was basically just sampling at this point, well aware I'm losing flavors of shit in the mix)
2 oz milk
2 oz creamer (i had cinnamon vanilla)

Shake with ice, and stir it into a glass about half full of alcoholic rootbeer

Garnish with nutmeg

I know I overdid it, like I do everything. But it was really just a test, came out delicious, and I was afraid to change anything.

I really gotta stop scrounging my old ass shelves and start buying things. I've got a bunch of empty bottles sitting right next to my desk that I've been planning to make simple and a few different flavored syrups with, and 3 empty bitters bottles i haven't even made selections for. I know angostura is a staple, but I just haven't put enough time into finding out what choices I have to put in the other 2. I know angostura also does chocolate and orange, and I'm real interested, but I wonder if that's too many eggs in similar baskets

Imagine drinking that without the nutmeg

Gotta have the nutmeg!

My mom tried offering that to me one time without the garnish, and I just threw that shit out in front of her

I'd have acted like there was a forcefield around it preventing me from drinking it until she got the hint and brought the damn nutmeg out!

Way too many double digit iq's think they're political gurus these days. Super hard pass.
