Imagine Colby Covington as Champion

It might be the worst championship reign we’ve ever seen. He might not even defend, he may just retire, which would be the best case scenario if he does beat Leon.

If he does decide to defend:

-He’ll barely ever defend the title, as he only fights once every 2 years these days

-He’ll completely duck the entire WW division in favor of so-called “money fights” with people like LW Poirier and then MW Sean Strickland, both which are not ranked WW’s currently.

-We’ll have to deal with another Interim Title while the actual champ holds up the division for years
Which is why I don't understand why they gave him the title shot in the first place. Whatever short term gain they make from a slight bump in PPV buys surely isn't worth the hassle and inactivity.

Well, if you go back long enough, Colby beat dos Anjos and Maia convincingly when they were only past their primes rather than completely over the hill. That's sort of an accomplishment.
In all seriousness... who is Colby best win?

RDA and that was a 48-47 and that was mainly because RDA poor IQ. Dos Anjos took down Colby pretty easily when he attempted to.
Maia was a shit fight.
Woodley, Masvidal and Robbie were so over the hill it wasn't funny at all.

And his fights are boring as shit the only good fights he had are with Usman, he never finishes anyone and he misses everything he throws lol. Basically it would be an inactive fighter with cringe trash talk and boring fights.
Very true, totally agree with everything you said. He is not a good finisher and couple that with the fact that he barely ever fights, he is so inactive always (without injuries). Yawn

He'd be the money fight so he'd take who ever the UFC game him.
After the presser, might be a 50/50 fight.
Some interesting match ups for him. Lw and we need to purge the divas like him Dustin, Justin, ... Already got rid of Jorge bc and Conor is on his way out. Dudes refusing to fight guys trying to get into the top 5

If he wins the belt, he'll start calling out lightweights immediately.

Mark my words.

Colby is going to kill Leon...50 -46 ...won't be close

Colby wins then Belal is never touching the title. It is honestly going to be a hate crime at the press conference

They're fine with Jones doing it at HW, I don't think they plan for long term at all. They always make the most shortsighted decisions.

If Colby wins, then it'll be him, Strickland, and O'Malley as the three worst champs in the UFC.

When he is champ, he'll make the most money and he is already 35. I expect him to want to fight a bunch, since his window for making the most money of his career will be relatively short.

Especially if he doesn't get damaged too much in the fight. Colby has been in some wars with Usman. He is smart and took a good while to heal up. It's not like he is just lazy, there is purpose behind his inactivity but also some fight politics and societal politics behind it, of course.

Leon has fought 5X in last 4 years. Coby has fought 5X in the last 4 years. So, what exactly are we imagining?
And Leon was a questionable shot for a title defense. But at least he won all five of those fights, including some non-trivial wins. Cody is coming off of two losses and three wins against fighters who topped out at borderline gatekeeper level when they fought.

The ww division needs shavkat to take that belt asap …. Everyone already knows he’s the best …. And he’ll be the first ww champ that isn’t a point fighting decision machine

18-0 with 18 finishes after Saturday

Making the ww division great again
