As first reply said, small joint manipulation. If rules allowed for small joint manipulation, you might see some techniques utilized and new submission wins. With that being said, and as someone who did aikido for a few years, an aikido specialist wouldn't do shit as compared to a jiu-jitsu or a wrestling specialist.

TLDR: Would be great to add to a repertoire if the techniques were legal, but useless otherwise.

Aikido is very difficult to learn so it's not popular, it's easier to learn to jab in boxing or do wrestling.

Gozo is one of the few guys who is a great Aikido Fighter, most Aikido students can't perfectly perform the techniques of Aikido even if there's depended on it.

UFC 1 had barely any rules. Where was Aikido then?
