It's human nature to keep right on doing things one knows one can get away with, and on top of that continue to escalate.
If all you Sherdoggers knew you could do everything Jones has and never face any consequences, would you? And if not, why not?
Saying "no consequences" is deceiving. People act as if consequences of your actions can only be jail. That consequence typically leads people down worse paths in life, not improved behavior. Have you ever been in jail? Do you think if you went in there you'd come out a better person with better social behaviors or worse? The evidence in the field is staggering on this.
Probation fucking sucks. House arrest sucks. The terms of probation sucks. Losing your drivers license or getting a probationary one and fulfilling their requirements sucks, too. You get punished every day with all of these stipulations on your life. Not to mention living under the microscope like he does after doing this shit with the public, too. I don't know all the details of his legal judgements but I know he's intermittently done better. I think his biggest problem aside from his own personality flaws is the limitless money and notoriety.
That's why we have a CJ system of increasing punishments if you continue to demonstrate an inability to rehabilitate. Unfortunately for Jones, if he gets convicted here, this may be the one that sees him have to spend 90 days in the county jail and that can have long lasting damaging effects, too -- but at this point it may be less damaging for him than staying outside.
