Jiri just said himself he was out

Depending on your ability to recover from flash KO's are going to result in stoppages like these.

noooooo Jiri is still rocked right now (but not rocked so much the fight should have been stopped) so he doesnt know what hes saying!! he would have been fine and won!!! he was just resting for a minute!!
This is what happened after Blachovicz-Ankalaev, where Jan said in his post-fight interview that Ankalaev deserved the win, only to later retract that claim by saying that he wasn’t thinking straight in the immediate aftermath of the bout.

Respect to Jiri for being honest — hope he gets a rematch, especially since there really isn’t another obvious candidate who deserves the fight more.

Jiri was out in the Reyes fight too. Dude still could've won, he has a ridiculous ability to come back after getting hurt, same way T-Ferg and Frankie Edgar used to. But I think the stoppage was fine.

I agree with everything but the last sentence.

Simply put, it's a title fight.

Feels obvious he was out tbh

Like if that was early, you would have seen SOME emotions out of him, but he had that deer in the headlights look, no idea where he was or what just happened

Per the Bushido code, Jiri should go hara kiri after being rendered immobile from one kick.
He uses propain so hes god in white jesus eyes i tell ya whut

5 straight punches followed by 9 elbows that dropped jiri as he was attempting to stand and he dropped wihtout even moving his arms almost as if he was out....... allowing his opponent to take full mount effortlessly. then jiri even saying in the post fight he was out and you still got people saying it was an early stoppage. you guys clearly dont know jack shit lol.

He did take some elbows to the temple.

Which happened on same side Goddard was at.

Its always a bad stoppage when their boy takes the L, imo it wasnt the worst of the stoppages, dropped and then goes down a 2nd time, mounted, it was a matter of seconds for more punches to rain over him, would had been better but its still ok.

If someone goes out, the ref is allowed to stop the fight. That's just how it works.

Did Jiri still have a chance to recover and win? Yes.

Would the fight probably have been better if he didn't stop it? Yes.

But was the stoppage objectively fine under the UFC rules? Also yes.

This isn't boxing where fighters get concussed over and over because they get so many chances to recover. A big reason of why MMA is so much safer than boxing is due to the fights stopping once a fighter loses consciousness.

He went out briefly against Reyes too then got up and delivered a KO of the year

I think he may have very briefly been out from one of the elbows but he was fully conscious at the time of stoppage

And having Poatan in full mount dropping hellbows is what he deserves?? Ref just saved Jiri unnecessary damage.

Yep. And Alex in full mount would have knocked him out cold

Granted mount isn't a death sentence when you're not fantastic on the ground and there is the option to give up your back, and due to back of the head strikes being illegal, it's a relatively safe place to recover.

Odds are he could land and get the TKO, but there's a good 30% chance he survives.

wasn't a bad stoppage. but wasn't a great one.

And then we complain about sore losers

Respect for his honesty, you can see it on replay that he was out.

Flash KOs are very different than full KOs.

If you ask ANY fighter, they'd want the benefit of the doubt. To at least work, shit happens and people get hit.

Jiri alone has been dropped and hurt in a TON of fights and came back and won.

Aspinall Pavlovich was a fine stoppage even before the ground strike.

One knockdown should not a victory make.
