Great fight but it of course sucks that we won’t get to watch Jones fight. I’m not sold on Pavlo or Aspinall - both legit HWs but for any of them to become champ means that the level of skill has dropped amongst the elite, not that they’d beat prime Jones/Miocic/Ngannou/Cain/JDS.

Jones himself said he's a realist (or something to that effect) and that he doesn't want to fight the young top guys at HW. He has been pretty open that he thinks he's past his prime and that the risk doesn't make sense.

I can't find the interview. I guess he didn't use the world 'realist' (that was when he spoke about fighting Cormier at HW), but he said something similar that the chance of losing would be high and he isn't really interested.

This has been God's plan all along.
All of Jones MMA achievements was so that he could achieve great fame and influence which he can use to spread the good word of Jesus.
Now that he is no longer training 8 hours a day, he can devote those 8 extra hours daily on attending Church mass, visiting Parishes, organizing Church youth group activities etc.
He can take all the discipline, skills, toughness, persistence, hard work he learned from MMA, and apply it to helping kids around the world.
