It totally is. Huge KOs are spectacular but what typically kills or causes permanent damage is taking a lot of punches to the head, which boxing obviously has a lot more of. Holloway has the record for most head strikes landed in a single UFC fight at 274 but that is a crazy anomaly. The vast majority of mma fights last three rounds and involve a good amount of grappling without a lot of ground strikes landed.
