I would say that individual stupidity is different than alleging that groups and organizations would make those infographics. You know there are lots of people who believe those are real, right? You're in here enough to know that people think that is a real image propagated by Soros(for example).

Well, that was my point, it doesn't take much for something incredibly stupid to end up on the internet, often so stupid that a normal person won't believe it could possibly be real. What about this 'racism lasts forever' picture indicates that it's an official campaign or something? Apart from the fact that it looks very meme-like and I saw it posted in meme threads before, it wouldn't be a new level of stupidity if some random social media page of some fringe group actually had posted something like this.

btw to correct myself here, I chose a poor example of 'real stupidity' because it's not real either, just looked it up and the original picture was photoshopped, it was only reposted on a lot of social media pages, some to make fun of it knowing that it was altered, some because they seriously thought that's a good message. So I apologize for adding more misinformation/confusion instead of clearing things up.
The point is, Poe's law is very real these days.
I read European newspapers almost everyday and there often are news like a progressive politician who publicly attacks police officers for killing a terrorist who -literally- went on a rampage with an axe because the perpetrator was a "refugee". It's very difficult to distinguish a right-winger who spreads fake news to smear the left from actual progressives in Europe because it's pretty much the same. Not saying the right doesn't have their fair share of full-retards but they're not as close to the left's parodies. Maybe the left has to step up their meme game.

I remember being in a 400 level poli sci course and the topic of rape came up and I made a comment that people should walk in groups after a night out and have at the very least pepper-spray to protect themselves and got SCREECHED at for blaming the victim.

By deflecting to American statistics you are showing support for the European rapists by minimizing their crimes as insignificant.
