First Look at New Spidey Suit for THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2

Following a tease by director Marc Webb himself last week, ComingSoon now has an exclusive first look at the costume that will be featured in next summer's The Amazing Spider-Man 2. As Webb promised last November, the costume features much bigger eyes and a number of alterations to color and texture throughout.

This is quite arguably the closest any of the films have come to matching the design from the comics, especially Mark Bagley's take in Ultimate Spider-Man. A good visual comparison is this photo from last year's The Amazing Spider-Man, featuring Spidey in a similar pose. Also starring Martin Sheen, Shailene Woodley, Paul Giammatti, Felicity Jones and Colm Feore, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 hits theaters May 2, 2014.

First Look at Shailene Woodley on the SPIDER-MAN 2 Set

We get our first look at Shailene Woodley as Mary Jane Watson in the set of The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Previously I was on board with Miss Woodley as MJ since she was cute in The Descendants and tall-ish. But after seeing a bunch of recent set photos of her, I just don't think she's hot or even attractive enough to play Mary Jane.

New Victory Tour Posters for THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE

Lionsgate’s marketing campaign for the upcoming sequel The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is about to kick into another gear, so prepare accordingly, folks. The studio has unveiled a new poster for the film. This isn’t just any poster, though, as it appears to play along with the premise of the books/film by advertising the Victory Tour that Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) embark on as part of their commitment to the Capitol following their triumph at the Hunger Games. It’s actually a pretty neat marketing angle.

Directed by Francis Lawrence, the film also stars Sam Claflin, Woody Harrelson, Liam Hemsworth, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Elizabeth Banks, Donald Sutherland, Jena Malone, Jeffrey Wright, and Amanda Plummer. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire opens in traditional theaters and IMAX on November 22nd.

First Creepy Trailer for James Wan's THE CONJURING

The-Conjuring-600x200-Dragonlord.jpg

Warner Bros. has released the incredibly creepy first trailer and poster for director James Wan’s (Insidious, Saw) horror film The Conjuring. The pic is based on the story of the Perron family who inhabited a haunted Rhode Island farmhouse in the 1970s. Lili Taylor and Ron Livingston play the Perrons, and Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson play a husband and wife team of psychic investigators who encounter the most horrifying case of their career. The film’s release date was moved into the middle of the summer after some through-the-roof test screening responses. The film also stars Joey King, Mackenzie Foy, and Shanley Caswell. The Conjuring opens on July 19th.

Synopsis: Before there was Amityville, there was Harrisville. Based on a true story, “The Conjuring” tells the horrifying tale of how world-renowned paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren were called upon to help a family terrorized by a dark presence in a secluded farmhouse. Forced to confront a powerful demonic entity, the Warrens find themselves caught in the most terrifying case of their lives.

Chris Cooper to Play Norman Osborn in AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2

Spider-Man-2-Chris-Cooper-Norman-Osborn-Dragonlord.jpg

Oscar winner Chris Cooper (The Bourne Identity, American Beauty) has signed on to play Norman Osborn in Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man 2 for Columbia Pictures. The character of Osborn is pivotal in the franchise because he is the alter ego of the Green Goblin, which was played by Willem Dafoe in the original Spider-Man trilogy. It is unclear whether Cooper will make his villainous turn in this film or in a sequel. Osborn starts out as a mentor to the superhero before turning bad.

The film stars Andrew Garfield as the webslinger and Emma Stone as his love interest. Cooper, who won a best supporting actor Oscar for 2002's Adaptation, joins an all-star cast of villains that includes Jamie Foxx and Paul Giamatti. The screenplay is by Alex Kurtzman & Roberto Orci and Jeff Pinkner based on a previous draft by James Vanderbilt. The film will be produced by Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach. The sequel is set for release May 2, 2014.

First Trailer for CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS 2

Cloudy-Meatballs-2-0121-Dragonlord.jpg

Sony Pictures has released the first trailer for Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2. The plot revolves around Flint Lockwood (Bill Hader) and Sam Sparks (Anna Faris) returning to Swallow Falls to clean up the mess created by the FLDSMDFR, only to find that food is now taking on the form of mutant beasts. The trailer also shows off the strange, offbeat humor that made the first film such a delight. The film also features the voices of Andy Samberg, Benjamin Bratt, Terry Crews, and Neil Patrick Harris. Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 opens in 3D on September 27th.

Synopsis: In the wake of the disastrous food storm at the end of the first movie, Flint Lockwood and friends are forced to leave their town of Swallow Falls. But when it is discovered that sentient food beasts have overrun the island, they are asked to return to save the world

SUPER TROOPERS 2 Could Shoot Later This Year

super-troopers-slice.jpg

A sequel to the 2001 cult comedy hit Super Troopers could begin shooting as early as this year, according to Kevin Heffernan and Steve Lemme, two-fifths of the Broken Lizard comedy troupe. Broken Lizard, formed at New York's Colgate University in 1990, has written and starred in such films as Super Troopers, Club Dread and Beerfest, all of which member Jay Chandrasekhar directed.

Super Troopers, which stars the quintet as a group of lovable, degenerate cops working in Vermont near the Canadian border, grossed $23 million at the box office for Fox Searchlight. Made on a shoestring budget, it alienated many with its crude humor but endures among a young adult crowd. There have been rumors and discussion of a sequel for years, but Heffernan and Lemme told the website GuySpeed.com this week that it may happen as soon as this year.

"We wrote the script and handed it in to Fox, and now we're just negotiating the time and the place and hopefully shoot it some time this year. I have to start growing my mustache now," Heffernan said.

In the Doug Liman-directed film, the 50-year-old actor plays a soldier fighting a war with aliens who finds himself caught in a time loop of his last day of the battle. Hitting theaters on March 7, 2014, the sci-fi flick also stars Emily Blunt and Bill Paxton.

Early Screening Reactions for MAN OF STEEL are Very Positive
(Posted first by ChillyPalmer)

Man-of-Steel-Screencap-0227-Dragonlord.jpg

It’s been seven years since the character was last seen onscreen, and Warner Bros. is hoping that Man of Steel kicks off a new franchise for the studio following the conclusion of the Harry Potter series and Christopher Nolan‘s Batman trilogy. With the pic’s June release date looming, Warner Bros. recently got its first look at the full film by way of some early private studio screenings. Reactions to those screenings appear to be highly positive, as a recent report sheds some light on what fans can expect from the pic. The folks over at JoBlo have a source that sent them some bullet point reactions from the early screenings at WB:

- Imagine a Nolan story with Snyder effects/action.
- It’s the best movie of the year.
- There’s TONS of action with Superman kicking all kinds of ass in his suit.
- The cape is CG’d most of the time so it can look awesome.
- They have intentionally left out most of the the Super action in trailers to save it.
- It’s not nearly as dour and serious as the trailers suggest.
- The movie is complete, minus the 3D post-conversion, which is currently taking place

To say it’s premature to call Man of Steel “the best film of the year” is a massive understatement, but it’s clear that the screening went over well. Fans worried that we’re in for another romantic drama a la Superman Returns should be pleased, and kudos to WB for keeping the action-y bits under the hood until the film hits theaters; audiences are going to turn out for this movie no matter what. It’s also reassuring to hear that there’s some fun to be had despite the super serious nature of the trailers. Man of Steel opens in 3D on June 14th.

The haunted house thing has been done to death, but The Conjuring really looks like it's going to live up to the hype. Can't wait for that.

And I'm glad you're finally a mod.

Gary Oldman Joins DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES

Gary-Oldman-Dawn-Apes-Dragonlord.jpg

Things are really ramping up for Matt Reeves' upcoming Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. In addition to the returning Andy Serkis, recent reports name Jason Clarke and Kodi Smit-McPhee as two of the sequel's principal cast. Now, ComingSoon.net has learned exclusively that Gary Oldman will be boarding the project as the leader of a human colony!

Set 15 years after the events of Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Dawn finds most of humanity wiped out and the intelligent apes ruling over the world. Part of the film's focus is said to be on a small group of San Francisco-based scientists that are forming a resistance against the apes and part follows Serkis' Caesar as he, like his namesake, tries to maintain order and power within his new civilization.

A name very well known to cinephiles, Oldman recently starred in John Hillcoat's Lawless and reprised his role as Commissioner Gordon in last summer's The Dark Knight Rises. He can be seen later this year in Robert Luketic's Paranoia and early next year in Jose Padilha's RoboCop. Featuring a screenplay by Mark Bomback, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes starts filming this spring for a May 23, 2014 release.
