Adam McKay Says Kristen Wiig’s Character Is “Dangerous”
Production on Anchorman: The Legend Continues is poised to get underway next week in Atlanta, and fans are understandably eager to find out what kind of hijinks the Channel 4 news team will get themselves into in the follow-up. The entire team from the first film returns, with Adam McKay and Will Ferrell writing the script, McKay directing, and Ferrell, Steve Carell, Paul Rudd, David Koechner, and Christina Applegate reprising their roles.
New additions to the cast include Kristen Wiig as a love interest for Carell’s Brick Tamland and James Marsden as a fellow anchorman and “Ron Burgundy’s nemesis,” but plot details thus far have been few and far between. McKay recently dropped a few tidbits of information regarding the film’s story, revealing that the plot involves the newsteam angling for glory in New York City and talking a bit about Wiig’s character.
“If [Ron] wasn’t a giant A-hole, everything would be okay. By the end he’s got to be a little less of an A-hole, but that’s still a little hard for him to do. The Channel 4 news team – Brick, Champ, Christina and Brian – are back for more Sex Panther-scented adventures, this time headed in the direction of the Big Apple. “San Diego is too close to Ron’s heart to go away, but we feel that New York City is the holy grail for all newsmen.”
“Brick’s so far gone that you can’t have a relationship with him,” [McKay] laughed, admitting that Kristen Wiig’s character will be tempting him to do just that. “It takes a special someone to get a rope snare around his heart. She is dangerous!”
Anchorman: The Legend Continues opens on December 20th.
