Saturday night I have a grappling match with UFC vet Philip Hawes is anyone is interested

Much respect, TS. How long have you been training? I hope to stay active, even after marriage/kids lol. One can hope.

Once you stop, the time to regain levels of fitness just extends as you age. After being a real unit for many years, I just completely abandoned my conditioning for something like 2 or 3 years. Just a few months ago I suddenly was struck by the motivation to begin again, and at 42, it's still a rewarding process but I definitely can't shred the abs and bulk up the lats as quickly as I did in my 30s.

Some pictures from Saturday night.
Didn’t go my way but it was fun..
Felt flat but that happens and Hawes is a stud strong and fast with solid technique..

What an inspiration!

I've done strength training for about 30 years, boxed for 10 years in a 15 years period (no competition), and one year ago at 47 i started BJJ.
I had an injury that stopped me for 4 months, but i've recovered, started slow, and i'm now training BJJ 5 times a week, and i've been loving it.

I have an herniated C6-C7 disk, so i have to avoid some movements that could impact it, but other than that i'm evolving at a decent rate, and due to my strength and speed i'm able to pose some problems to the higher belts.
I hope to be able to train for as long as possible, and reach your age with the same mindset as yours!

Thank you for your truly inspiring topic.

If you are interested in elder abuse

Sometimes you just gotta say what the hell..

I accepted an offer for a grappling match with UFC fighter Philip Hawes next Saturday 10/15 in Miami and the CSC show.

His original opponent pulled out short notice I figure it's not like it's a fight.

Yes as a few people decided to message me yesterday I am old (thanks I hadn’t realized). This is about the challenge and having fun. Are you telling me if you had the opportunity and could do it you wouldn’t want too?

I turn 60 in February and even I can’t believe after all the hurdles and obstacles life has thrown at me that I am still able to do this.

It’s a special rules match.. 6 minutes first 3 submission only second 3 there will be the ADCC point system.

Match will be live broadcast on www.flograppling.com for anyone who wants to watch.

My best chance is trying to snag something in the first 3 as this kid is a beast and former Juco National wrestling champion so the point game could get ugly..

Either way I am going to have a blast.. Hopefully I won't break a hip on the walkout

Bro, you're my Sher-idol!
I'm going on 41 and am still at it myself. Mad respect to the discipline and love you show martial arts.
