Underrated Post. SNL always did politics, Clinton got it good. Left and Yes even the Rignt are just crybabies nowadays . People like to complain how the younger generation are soy boys but we (30-60) are the real soy boys. I'm ashamed of my pussy generation.Sounds like how I remember SNL back in the day. Jay Leno and Letterman too.
Cold openers were about how horny Clinton was or how dumb Bush Jr. was. Weekend update was always about politics. They can’t make too many jokes about other news stories because those are usually tragedies of some kind. Unless it’s about OJ. Who Leno constantly poked fun at too. Remember Elian Gonzalez? There’s an immigration story we never heard the end of.
Tina Fey is only famous because of Sarah Palin.
It’s always been that way.
SNL's shook.Been a fan of SNL for a very long time, and have seen most of the older stuff. I love New Yorker humor...very witty, offbeat, yet still classy at times.
But, since Trump's election in 2016, the show has taken a darker turn.
It's one thing to clown the President's inequities, much like they do with every Republican President (Chevy Chase has admitted on camera that SNL has a severe bias for Dems), but the comedians/actors who portray Trump, or those who play roles bashing Trump, have ALL been actors/comedians who have expressed a severe disdain for Trump in real life.
It's comedic to some extent, but there are times when the vibe/tone go beyond your typical joke/bit.
Not to mention, practically EVERY single episode since the election has revolved around Trump...EVERY "Weekend Update" is roughly 75% Trump "coverage"!
I was excited to see SNL, again, after their months-long hiatus, this weekend, but what I perceived was a new low, even for SNL. Chris Rock and Jim Carrey essentially wished malice, illness, death, etc. upon the President, who, regardless of your political affiliation, is still a fellow human being.
To make things worse, SNL has really been laying it on thick with the pedo jokes these past few years.
Anyone who watches it regularly can probably relate to my gripes.
Your thoughts?

You obviously mildly-skimmed through my OP, and haven't watched the skit I'm referring to.Or maybe you're just a Maga guy who gets offended when they make fun of the president? It was a ridiculous debate performance and probably the worst debate in US history. It would be a crime for them not to cover it.
Baldwin's Trump isn't funny. It just makes me feel kind of uneasy, so it takes me out of feeling any jokes that might actually be there. It seems driven by something other than comedy.
On the other hand, this guy's was pretty good:
A lot of comedians actually need Trump to be President. They'd have no material otherwise.
Chappelle has gone full-Libtard as well. The "jokes" he made about Candice Owens were ridiculous, to say the least.I instantly turn off any comedian/show that tries to create comedy off trump. I have zero interest in politics especially american politics. So i've had to move away from a lot of shows i used to enjoy.
The daily show is a glaring example. It used to be hilarious, witty and even thought provoking with Jon stewart and colbert. Now its just hacky and picking at the lowest hanging fruit, comedy nowhere to be seen.
But it makes me appreciate the non-conforming comedians a lot more. Chappelle, burr, norm.. thats where the real comedy is now.

Can you provide an example? I'm having trouble finding them.Google some political ads from the 1800’s in the US. Those were brutal compared to the tame stuff

I tried watching a few clips over the past few years. It's not funny at all. They've basically become like CNN doing a skit. It's not funny and it's been so blatant even porn is more reserved in catering to its audienceI understand that, but I don't think that's the point of his post. And he's really not wrong, it's become trash. There is zero creativity, all they know to do is Trump jokes. And they're not even funny, but it seems now they've even reached a new low.
