Bushman had made the point that you can’t simultaneously accept leftish distortion in academia and reject rightward distortion of academia and remain credible.
He had juxtaposed the leftist practice of destroying or removing confederate monuments against the rightist practice of tailoring school curriculum in Texas. I ceded that analogy to be tortured, but say that it’s an unnecessary comparison, as American academia has a clear tendency to skew left, ideologically.
Thusly, there are inexhaustible opportunities for direct comparison.
What is it about Academia that makes it leftist, is it the strive for a fairer and more accurate representation of history and criticism of historically dominant cultures? An institution isn't leftist merely for accurately portraying history, rather than sweep things under the rug and whitewash. Now having said that, in some aspects Academia does support liberal sympathies , to the detriment of accurately portraying history, like in how they whitewash the nature of Islam.
