Early ratings are out and Flash kicked ass last night. It is currently at a 1.8/4.50mil which is the best CW premier in five years (since The Vampire Diaries in '09). For comparison, Arrow's pilot pulled a 1.3/3.8mil, and Agents of F.L.O.P. was only at a 1.6/4.39mil last night (though ABC has been adjusting up the last few weeks for some unknown reason, so it might catch up when the final numbers are out later today).

I dug it, was better than Gotham, to me. Just set up the world and supporting cast and blah blah really quickly and neatly to springboard some big future adventures. Loved the Zoom inclusion and former TV Flash John Wesley Shipp as his dad.

Definitely enjoyed it, and might have to check out Arrow now as well. Total opposite of my reaction to Gotham.

I thought this was great, and as long as they don't make and huge missteps it'll be renewed for sure. I am surprised at how well it is doing rating wise though, as The Flash actually has powers I was almost certain that the series would build a following over the course of the season, as everyone would be skeptical of the special effects.

Holy hell, the final ratings are out and Flash adjust UP to a 1.9/4.79mil. It'll be interesting to see if there is any wash-over to tonight's Arrow S3 debut. S2 spent basically the whole season around the 0.9/2.5mil mark so anything over say a 1.2/3mil would be really solid.

SUPERGIRL Could Exist in the Same World as FLASH & ARROW

Flash-Supergirl-2-Dragonlord.jpg

The December 5, 2014 issue of Entertainment Weekly magazine - now hitting newsstands - features a profile on Greg Berlanti, the executive producer of many current hit shows including Arrow and The Flash. As has been mentioned before, one of Berlanti's new projects is a Supergirl TV project for CBS, which he is developing with Ali Adler and Sarah Schechter. There's a section talking about what's currently going on in production, and there's a very interesting nugget within:

"Later in the afternoon at his other office on the Warner Bros. lot, Berlanti meets with fellow producer Ali Adler and Oscar-winning costume designer Colleen Atwood to go over looks for their upcoming revamp of Supergirl. The show will follow 24-year-old Kara Zor-El, Superman's cousin, and with a twist that that could melt fanboy brains, Berlanti says it's possible this Supergirl could enter the worlds of Arrow and The Flash."

First Trailer for THE FLASH VS. ARROW Crossover Episode

2ilo3mb.jpg

The CW has released the first full trailer for the epic team-up between Arrow and The Flash focusing on the Scarlet Speedster's side of things as the two heroes come to blows for the first time. Barry (Grant Gustin) is thrilled when Oliver (guest star Stephen Amell), Felicity (guest star Emily Bett Rickards) and Diggle (guest star David Ramsey) come to Central City to investigate a case involving a deadly boomerang. Excited about teaming up with his friend, Barry asks Oliver if he’d like to help him stop Ray Bivolo (guest star Patrick Sabongui), the meta-human Barry is currently tracking. Bivolo causes people to lose control of their emotions and has been using that skill to robbanks.

Unfortunately, the superhero partnership doesn’t go as smoothly as Barry expected. When Oliver tells Barry he still has a lot to learn, Barry sets out to prove him wrong by attempting to stop Bivolo alone. However, when Bivolo infects Barry and sets him on a rage rampage, everyone is in danger, and the only one who can stop him is the Arrow. Meanwhile, Iris (Candice Patton) is furious when Eddie (Rick Cosnett) tries to get a task force to stop The Flash, Joe and Dr. Wells(Tom Cavanagh) agree the Arrow is a bad influence on Barry, and Caitlin and Cisco deal with a newteam in S.T.A.R. Labs.

Luc Roderique to Play Jason Rusch/Firestorm in THE FLASH

Luc-Roderique-Firestorm-Dragonlord.jpg

Jason Rusch, one half of the Firestorm matrix in more recent comic book adaptations of the character (including the one currently appearing in The New 52: Futures End), is coming to The CW's The Flash, KSite TV reports. A graduate student at Hudson University, Rusch was part of Martin Stein's research team on the F.I.R.E.S.T.O.R.M. project. In the DC comics, Jason takes over the Firestorm matrix after Ronnie Raymond's death.

In the current comics, Raymond and Rusch share the Firestorm body, while in the past it was one of the two with Professor Stein. Rusch and Ronnie have a somewhat adversarial relationship, with Jason treating Ronnie like a dumb jock and Ronnie unhappy sharing his time to be Firestorm. No clue on what combination, if any, will be in the TV series, where actor Robbie Amell had previously stated that Firestorm will arrive soon and that Ronnie will struggle to remember his non-Firestorm identity.

Roderique has also starred in the Supernatural episode "Blood Brother," the recent, Gareth Edwards-directed Godzilla and the pilot episode of iZombie, coming to The CW in January.

Villain Gorilla Grodd Confirmed to Appear in THE FLASH

Gorilla-Grodd-The-Flash-102314-Dragonlord.jpg

During his sweeping new interview with Buzzfeed, DC Entertainment's Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns said a lot of pretty interesting things -- but a fairly small one stuck out as being worth calling attention to. Expressing his excitement about The Flash on The CW, Johns said, "We want to inspire people with this stuff. And we want to get it out there. Like, I can’t believe Gorilla Grodd’s gonna be in a Flash TV show. That’s insane. Like, I say it out loud and I still think it’s insane. But that’s what we want to do; we want to break new ground."

While the existence of Grodd in-universe was established with the pilot and various people connected to the show have answered questions about that moment with things like "We don't tease for nothing," Johns's comment is -- unless we're mistaken -- the first official, direct comment that says without qualification, "Gorilla Grodd is going to be on television." It will be the character's first live-action appearance, although he's appeared in numerous animated projects, both on TV and in direct-to-video feature films.

Andy Mientus Cast as Gay Villain Pied Piper in THE FLASH

Andy-Mientus-The-Flash-Dragonlord.jpg

Andy Mientus is going from Smash to The Flash. The Broadway actor, currently playing Marius in Les Miserables, has been cast as Hartley Rathaway, aka Pied Piper in CW’s new DC comics-inspired series The Flash, EW has confirmed.

Mientus will appear in episodes 11 and 12 as the bona fide genius who seeks revenge on his former mentor, Dr. Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh), by destroying his new protege The Flash after the same particle accelerator explosion that created Barry Allen’s superpowers causes Rathaway to lose his hearing. Pied Piper is one of the only openly gay villains in the DC Comics universe and will be portrayed that way on TV.

The Flash premiered on Tuesday and quickly became one of fall TV’s breakout hits with 4.5 million viewers. Grant Gustin stars as costumed crime-fighter Barry Allen on The CW series. In addition to Mientus, Victor Garber and Prison Break co-stars Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell will also guest star this season.
The Flash airs Tuesday at 8 p.m. on The CW.

ALIAS Actor Victor Garber Joins THE FLASH for Major DC Role

Victor-Garber-The-Flash-100914-Dragonlord.jpg

Alias alum Victor Garber, known for his Emmy-nominated turn as Jennifer Garner's father on the beloved spy drama, has booked a major recurring role on The CW's The Flash, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. First appearing in the 12th episode, Garber will play DC Comics character Dr. Martin Stein, who becomes one-half of Firestorm.

Dr. Stein is a brilliant but arrogant nuclear physicist who has sacrificed everything, including a marriage, for his work in transmutation. After he discovers the particle accelerator fused him with the younger, more impulsive Ronnie Raymond (Tomorrow People's Robbie Amell), he races to find a way to separate the two before it's too late.

Firestorm has appeared in several animated properties, such as ABC's Super Friends: The Legendary Super Powers Show, The Super Powers Team: Galactic Guardians and Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths, but this will be the character's first appearance in live action.

THE FLASH Premiere is The CW's Most-Watched Telecast Ever

255741l.jpg

Don't expect the wave of comic book-inspired TV series to slow down any time soon — at least at the CW. Two years after the successful launch of Arrow, the network premiered spinoff The Flash on Tuesday night. It marked the CW's highest-rated opener since The Vampire Diaries in 2009.

Initial live-plus-same day ratings give The Flash 4.54 million viewers and a 1.8 rating with adults 18-49. Both mark premiere highs since The Vampire Diaries' September 2009 bow. It's even more impressive when looking at the fact that The Flash opened the night, leading into the tenth season of Supernatural (steady and strong for the CW with a 1.2 in the demo). For the 8 p.m. hour, the CW easily outrated ABC's freshman comedies and Fox's animation encores among adults 18-49.

[Update 10/28/14: In spite of having leaked online months in advance of its premiere, the pilot episode for The CW's The Flash was the most-watched telecast in The CW's history, according to numbers released by the network. The Live +7 Day numbers weren't released officially until yesterday, when The CW announced that 6.8 million viewers watched The Flash in its initial airing, surpassing the 6.68 million that was The CW's previous record (America's Next Top Model's Season 2007 season finale).]

Nick Tarabay Cast as Captain Boomerang in ARROW & FLASH

Nick-Tarabay-Captain-Boomerang-Dragonlord.jpg

Spartacus actor Nick Tarabay has landed a multi-episode role as Digger Harkness (the villain better known as Captain Boomerang), EW reports. A member of The Flash's Rogues Gallery, the character will be introduced in the seventh episode of the season, and then carry over into the eighth episode, in which he'll likely face The Flash, who crosses over into Starling City.

In the comics, Harkness has also been associated with the Suicide Squad, which of course will be under the purview of Lyla Michaels, who will be in charge of A.R.G.U.S. this season on Arrow. In the series, the character will reportedly be a former A.R.G.U.S operative, highly skilled in martial arts and espionage, with a deadly thirst for vengeance against his former employers.

Arrow has previously recruited Spartacus veterans Cynthia Addai-Robinson as Harkness's former employer Amanda Waller; Manu Bennett as Slade Wilson/Deathstroke; and Katrina Law as Nyssa Raatko (al Ghul). Arrow returns October 8 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.

Amanda Pays to Play Dr. Tina McGee Again in THE FLASH

Amanda-Pays-The-Flash-Dragonlord.jpg

The CW’s The Flash has brought back Amanda Pays to play Dr. Tina McGee, the role she played in the original live-action version of the superhero drama. Pays joins John Wesley Shipp, who played lead Barry Allen/The Flash in the first series and who plays the character’s father in the reboot. Pays will again play the brilliant geneticist — although this time she is working for a rival tech firm to S.T.A.R. Labs, the company that has taken an interest in Barry Allen’s need for speed.

“When we decided to bring Tina onto our version of ‘The Flash,’ who better to get than the amazing actress who originated the part?” said exec producer Andrew Kreisberg. “Like with John Wesley Shipp, we are so proud and excited to have another actor from the original series join us on our new adventures for Barry Allen.”

PRISON BREAK's Dominic Purcell to Play Heatwave in THE FLASH

Dominic-Purcell-Heatwave-Dragonlord.jpg

A Prison Break reunion is coming to TV — on The Flash, that is. Dominic Purcell has boarded The CW comic-book drama as a DC Comics villain, reuniting with his Prison Break co-star Wentworth Miller in the 10th episode, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. This marks the first time Purcell and Miller, who played brothers Lincoln Burrows and Michael Scofield, will have appeared together since Prison Break ended in 2009.

Purcell will play Mick Rory, a pyromaniac who finds an outlet for his obsession with fire when he teams up with Leonard Snart/Captain Cold (Miller) and becomes the villain known as Heatwave. Miller was cast in The Flash back in July and makes his debut in episode four. Purcell's character will also be heard from in that same episode.

In DC Comics lore, Heatwave is a member of the Rogues, led by Captain Cold. Heatwave has been featured in animated form on shows such as Justice League Unlimited and Batman: The Brave and the Bold.

Other major Prison Break castmembers have been featured in the Arrow/The Flash universe. Robert Knepper ("T-Bag") played The Clock King on Arrow and is set to reprise his role on The Flash, and Peter Stormare (John Abruzzi) is Count Vertigo on the new season of Arrow.

lulz c'mon, son...

Nothing obvious is jumping out at me.

It's not like when the Constantine pilot leaked, and they completely wrote out a character.

Haven't seen Constantine. Big fan of the comic, but I don't really fancy it, given it sounds very watered down.

And yeah, Flash didn't seem any different. Was nice watching a good quality version though, rather than the piss-poor quality leaked copy.

Now that's how it's done. Quality all the way around except for the physics and speed proximity with other objects but at least all the characters fit well. I like how they tied it in with Arrow. Maybe they will build up all these shows and have a huge movie with all the characters of the DC universe.

I liked it. Was much better done than I expected. Based on how good that was, I'm now binge watching Arrow on Netflix.

Waited till today to watch this and Arrow, back to back with some friends. Then only one of them showed up.

Really liked this first episode. Set up alot of fun stuff and the interactions didn't seem nearly as weird as the 1st season of Arrow. Had a couple of goofy looking shots when he was running but overall it looked good.

Looks like Weather Wizard wont be in the Rogues.

He doesn't know about the speed force...

That was his brother. WW will definitely be in the Rogues.

This isn't too bad, so far. Unlike that piece of shit Agents of Shield garbage.

But at what point will Flash reach lightspeed and faster-than-light speed?

The pilot was pretty cheesy and hammy, but I'll give it a shot. AoS took a while to hit its stride, so maybe this can, too.
