Crime Two adults and three children hospitalised after Stabbing in Dublin

How do you fix doctors in your country leaving for a better one? How do you solve the doctor crisis without getting them outside of your country?
Maybe try to improve conditions for them so they don't want to leave. Regardless, people should be bothered that their doctors are coming from countries with lower standards.

Update 13:

A man has appeared in court charged with the attempted murder of three children and assault of a care worker in a horrific Dublin knife attack last month.

Riad Bouchaker, 50, was charged with the attempted murder of two girls and one boy following the incident in Parnell Square East on November 23.

At Dublin District Court Bouchaker, of no fixed abode, was also charged with the assault causing serious harm to a care worker.

Bouchaker was further charged with three counts of assault causing harm as well as the possession or production of a 14-inch kitchen knife.

Detective Sergeant Padraig Cleary told the court that Bouchaker was arrested at 12.51pm on Thursday and provided details of the charges and cautions.

Wearing a green jacket, black top, green trousers and slippers, Bouchaker spoke only to the Arabic interpreter [reminder he has been in Ireland for 20 years].

He was remanded in custody at Cloverhill prison to appear again at Cloverhill District Court via videolink on the 28th of December.

The judge also ordered the defendant's legal team cannot be identified by the media due to 'safety concerns'.

Update 14:

Cloverhill Court is on the same site as Cloverhill Prison

The man accused of attempting to murder three children in central Dublin is to stand trial in front of a judge and jury, a court heard today.

Cloverhill District Court in west Dublin heard that Riad Bouchaker, who turned 50 on December 15, is to stand trial on indictment. That means his case will be heard at the higher courts in front of a judge and jury.

Mr Bouchaker made his second court appearance this morning, a week after he was first charged. He is accused of eight offences.

He is charged with attempting to murder three children, two girls and a boy, at Parnell Square East in Dublin 1, on the 1st of November. Mr Bouchaker, of no fixed abode, is further charged with assault causing harm to a boy and a girl at the same location.

And he is also charged with assault causing serious harm to a crèche worker. He is further accused of assaulting a French national causing him harm on the same occasion. He finally faces one charge of possession and production of a 14" kitchen knife.

On his first appearance at Dublin District Court last week, Detective Sergeant Padraig Cleary of Mountjoy Garda Station said Bouchaker made no reply when six of the eight charges were put to him.

He also said that in relation to two charges – one of attempting to murder a girl and one of possessing the knife - he replied on each occasion: “I am a sick person.”

at Cloverhill court today remanded Bouchaker in custody to next month. The court heard Bouchaker will appear at the same court on the 25th of January.

Sounds like he picked up some bad habits living in Ireland for 20 years.
Would like to hear a motivation other than being sick. The whole thing seems quite meticulous for something with no motive. If he had a brain tumour it doesn't explain all the planning.

There's certainly a begrudge culture in ireland that lead to stuff like this. Of course its easier to say them immigrants than actually correcting serious social issues

Update 15:

Mr Bouchaker appeared in court via video link today.

Due to the complexity of the case and the vast amount of statements taken by Gardaí, the book of evidence was not ready to be served on the accused.

Instead, the defence agreed to a four-week adjournment.

Once the book of evidence is served on him, he will then be sent forward for trial.

Update 16:

A man charged with the attempted murder of two young girls and a boy in a knife attack in Dublin in November has been sent forward for trial to the Central Criminal Court.

Mr Bouchaker appeared again at Cloverhill District Court today [probably Thursday the 22nd of February 2024].

State solicitor Paul Bond said that the book of evidence had been completed, and it was then served on the accused.

The DPP had directed trial on indictment on eight charges in the book of evidence.

agreed to Mr Bond's request to grant a return for trial order, sending the accused's case forward to the Central Criminal Court.

A date has yet to be allocated for his next appearance, but it will take place during the present court term, which ends shortly before Easter.
