VHS had the coolest artwork

Cool retro thread. I remember watching many terrible horror movies based on the cover. When you were dating a girl it was something to do...Go rent some flicks, get some food, and watch flicks and bang. Its amazing kids today just download shit.

Then as you watch your movie, turns out your cousin or uncle used it as a blank tape for 3 AM pr0n

I remember pausing movies at just the right time to get a better look at a nude shot. You'd have to press the pause button a second before you actually wanted it to pause because of the delay.

Needless to say Basic Instict got a little worn out.

These kids have it good. I remember spending like 30 mins trying to download a nude image on dial up. I also stole porn mags and it was hard to get them.

That's right before it was Netflix and Chill it was Blockbuster and bang.

Having the Hi Fi Minicomp VHS combo back then was the shit!

I remember my cousin rented T2 and I thought he is riding a fucking motorcycle inside his room.

In the old days, a lot of the movie experience and fun was going to the rental place and picking movies that you knew nothing about but chose it only because of it's art.

Once again, your doing it wrong. The cultured side of Sherdog already recognizes that LASER DISC jackets were the GOAT art work medium. Just Like Vinyl Jackets are > compact discs. They were borderline posters for christ sake !!

<Meh02> next time hit me up, and I will let you know what your opinions should be.

The movie store I went to almost 3 times a week every single week since I was 8 just closed down. My dad was friends with the owner so I always got free movies. It hurts a little inside every time I pass by the now signless/borded up building.

You could argue the kind of seedy video nasty style atmosphere is returning to the market a little now with blockbuster folding, they killed off most such rental places back in the mid 90's in favour of having 40 copies of ID4 to rent. Smalltime stores selling this kind of stuff or the modern equivalent are starting to fill the gap a bit.

I still remember frequenting a video store that catered only to Laser Disc enthusiasts. Sure the selection wasn't as vast as video stores and the rental prices were much higher. But it also kept the Riff Raff peasants away. So get on my level.

Also rage like me that the Film studio's threw out the original film for most of the catalog of movies over the last 20 years that were filmed in 4096 × 2160 but downgraded after the fact to be 2k.

<JerryWWF> LET'S RAGE TOGETHER SHERBRO'S !!

I think the experience was better and more fun and movies and tapes were actually valued and seen as special.

I do much prefer the look of HD though.
The best thing is sometimes you end up picking out movies you normally won't see because your first 5 choices are rented out. Also running into neighbors or class mates you rarely talk to and having a few sentence conversation with them

That's awesome Horror movie cover! Sadly most of the time the movie it self sucked

I'm curious to know if you didn't have flip over a Laserdisc and there was an Laser Disc Player/Recorder
I wonder if they would put VHS out of business.

For some reason I *really* love The Lion King VHS cover work lol. I pick up the case and can’t help but to stare for a little. Nostalgia maybe? Idk.

I do love getting VHS tapes from different areas of the world just so I can have all the cool covers lol.
