Wanderlei Silva and CroCops lack of success in the UFC?

Wanderlei's career started in 1996, he didn't join the UFC till 2007, 11 years into his career and was 31-7-1 (1)NC for 39 total fights and had finished his Pride career with back to back KO losses. His prime was over before he joined the UFC, same goes for Cro Cop who had like 100 fights between boxing, K1 and MMA and was having lots of ankle and leg injuries. Cro Cop's career also started in the mid 90s.
Dude, Wand fought in UFC before Pride.

I know, I was talking about when he joined the UFC when his prime was over. Why would I talk about his first UFC stint when the OP wasn't asking about that? You have to read the OPs post otherwise your not going to understand the context of the posts in here.

Ok ok

It’s because a significant amount of their fights in PRIDE were favorable mismatches.
Although true how can you objectively look at their fights in the UFC and not see they also regressed skills wise? Most glaring with Wanderlei, guy from a Muay Thai specialist to a brawler.

they were legit fighters but a lot of their record was padded against true cans (and possibly rigged fights) to make them seem more dominant than they actually were. They also didn't acknowledge weight classes because wrestling was fairly weak in Pride. The guys who could wrestle had Dana White boxercise level striking which meant they still couldn't setup effective shots. Likely these guys were shocked by guys who could grapple AND strike, which knocked their striking down a few notches (Cro Cop hardly threw any kicks in UFC because he was terrified of the takedown.)

Wand was pretty much shot by the time he came to UFC. Those kicks from Hunt and Cro Cop put serious mileage on him

Not to mention the reconstructive surgery he needed on his nose & sinus from 10 yrs at chute box.

Mix that with coming off years on the juice. Completely different fighter

They both had full careers in terms of fights and especially damage taken before they even came to the UFC. Anyone saying they were overrated isn't very smart.
