Prime Connery would kick your ass, drink your beer and fuck your woman.:D The Sean was a black belt in Kyokushin Karate, a nightclub bouncer and pimp-slapped Johnny Stompanato so hard when he pulled a gun on him that the Wise Guy had to run back to America in embarrassment.

My favourite quote about Connery comes from Cubby Broccoli. When Connery arrived to audition for Bond,

"He was so manly, I could almost hear his testicles clanging as he walked across the road.":)

You left out bodybuilder.

Timothy Dalton, The Living Daylights.

Honorable mention to License to Kill, Thunderball, From Russia With Love, Golden Eye and Casino Royale.

I love that not only did you pick Dalton, you picked his fantastic movie. I thought he was the best since Connery.

Licence to Kill was pretty mediocre, though.

Lately, I like A View To a Kill. It arguably has the best Bond opening sequence, has a memorable end credit scene, best theme song, Christopher Walken as the villain, Grace Jones as the main henchman, Dolph Lundgren's first movie appearance, and an end battle involving a blimp and the Golden Gate Bridge. That's all very cool.

Yeah for years the hype was the reverse for these two but Living Daylights for me is a near perfect 80's Bond film where as Licence to Kill is a fairly dull Miami Vice ripoff without the visual flair needed.

Maybe its because there the films I grew up with but beyond Licence I'v always had a soft spot for John Glen's Bonds, kept the fun stuff from the 70's but brought things down to earth nicely.

Lazenby and Dalton both deserved more Bond work.

Dalton gave Bond the Darker Edge that Craig later revived and had success with.

I just know i fucking hated Moore's Bond.

Connery. Best movie is a tie between From Russia with Love and Casino Royale

Sean Connery for me. The first Bond films I watched as a kid were Roger Moore ones, but my Dad steered me towards the Connery ones. Bond needs an element of camp, and Connery has the right level of manliness to balance that out without getting into over-angsty Daniel Craig emo-Bond. In terms of my favourites they would be Diamonds Are Forever and You Only Live Twice. Ridiculous, but Bond films should be...

Pretty sure its Connery

that being said

Brosnan COULD be number 1 if every movie was as good as Goldeneye.... tomorrow never dies, the world is not enough and Die another Day are soooooo fucking bad in comparison to Goldeneye

sort of the same thing with Daniel Craig, Casino Royale is sooooooooo much better than Quantum/Skyfall and Spectre....although I will say everyone hates it, but I think Quantum is underrated. Its a good companion piece to Bond as a character and rounds out his Vesper arc really well

I agree completely with all of this.

Moore was a nancy.

Casino Royal for fav Bond movie

Never really gave a shit about Bond. That said, I voted for Brosnan exclusively because I love old N64 GolenEye.

Really tough because the character has evolved in different ways since inception. Different actors played very different Bonds. Craig's rugged, no-nonsense, low humor Bond is hard to compare to the suave as a motherfucker Brosnan, or Roger Moore or Sean Connery. I can't really have a favorite, I think that each of them was perfect for the Bond they played... That said, nostalgia for the childhood says Brosnan, as Golden Eye was the first one I saw in the cinema, and it is absolutely fucking glorious.

It's tough to pick one single favorite actor because as I'm watching each era, I am totally invested in that actor's James Bond.

Lazenby and Dalton both deserved more Bond work.

I would have liked to see Dalton in GoldenEye. That would have been interesting.

Brosnan COULD be number 1 if every movie was as good as Goldeneye.... tomorrow never dies, the world is not enough and Die another Day are soooooo fucking bad in comparison to Goldeneye

I wouldn't just say in comparison to GoldenEye. The World is Not Enough is merely bad, but Tomorrow Never Dies and Die Another Day are the absolute worst of the entire Bond franchise IMO. They are just so astoundingly awful it's mind boggling.

Connery was the only Bond to be smooth but felt like he could snap and kill you. Every other Bond since didn't have that balance. Lazenby was awkward, Moore was too comedic, Dalton was too cold, Brosman was another Moore and Craig another Dalton.

I do think Craig has been the most realistic if you were telling a story about a MI6 agent but Connery was the best overall package.

Angsty and emo are the last words I would use to describe Craig's Bond. Out of all of them he's the most cold-blooded killer.

Sean Connery, but favourite movie is License to Kill.

Lol, casino royals gets way too much bro love simply because there’s a poker scene in it. It’s a good movie, but skyfall is so far beyond better that it’s ridiculous to even compare. In pacing, editing, acting and story.

And from Russia with love / Connery is best/best, not even a fuckin debate on that one.

craigs listed higher than Roger Moore?

Blafamy

I'm watching Octopussy on StarzEncore and thought I'd put it to a vote on here. The last thread asking that question was in 2013 and the thread is no longer available. Let's make a 2016 poll and see what happens.

I was originally going to make a "What's your favorite Bond movie" poll but with only 15 options in the poll I'd have to leave some out and lump a bunch of unpopular ones together, which I didn't want to do.

Instead, we can do favorite Bonds. You can pick from Connery, Lazenby, Moore, Dalton, Brosnan, Craig, and Niven.

When voting, you can also post what your favorite Bond pick is, and if we get enough feedback I'll keep a tally in this post.

In case you didn't remember, here's the filmography of the various Bonds.

Pre-Brosnan Bond is before my era, so I will not take part in the best overall Bond movie talk, but as far as comparison between CR and Skyfall, I am gonna say that CR is the superior film even though they are both great movies.
Largely, I think CR has the better bond girls especially the main one, Jasper > Moneypenny by a large margin. Also, I think Le Chiffre is a better villain than Raoul Silva. Le Chiffre's motivation is clearly understood while Silva come across almost like a caricature of a bond villain at first.

Skyfall's has a more intricate plot, and a great score thanks to Adele. And it was a stunning film visually, cinematography was on point.

Bond, having the benefit of two previous movies to build his character, feels more mature and complete, but I thought Bond was better in CR because the arc the movie take the audience through to become a full fledge 007 was a better ride IMO.

Again, both movies are great, and I could see why someone would marginally like one more than the other, I happen to like CR a bit more. It's a gross exaggeration to say "skyfall is so far beyond better that it’s ridiculous to even compare"
