Mass shooters are the new serial killer. When has there been a legit serial killer in the past 20 years.

Jesus....really? There are hundreds of them that have been caught and hundreds more on the lose. This is the exact thing I'm talking about. The killers just kept coming but unlike the past when the authorities plastered it on the local news, they keep their mouths shut now which is why you think there have been no serial killers in the last 20 years. There have been dozens of them.

One of the issues is that, in a lot of cases, police down know they're dealing with a serial killer. Most of them don't kill at a fast enough pace to raise suspicion of a single killer.

Our profiling methods and data bases are catching up though. Computer software is being used to try to spot trends in the mass of data to locate possible serial killers by looking at the cases of killings that are similar or alike but seperated by time and jurisdiction. Still though. A good serial killer circumvents this "A.I. detection" by not allowing bodies to be discovered.

Well, considering there is almost guaranteed an active mad dog in your area if you live in a major city, the police decided they didn't want the kind of full scale WTF as they had with killers like Son of Sam or Richard Ramirez. I mean people were buying guns in mass, not going out at night, getting new locks on the doors and windows, all sorts of shit even though the odds of them being targeted was low. The media was interviewing women who were saying "I'm scared", stuff like that, then plastering it on the nightly news to rev everything up.

If people suspect you of being a serial killer, you're probably not a great serial killer.

The scary fact is that there are a lot of people out there that appear completely normal, like business men, hedge fund managers, etc that would be your last guess to be a serial killer. But they are, and they rack up insane numbers because they are smart and no suspicion ever lands on them.

The guys you hear about that get 10- 15 hookers and then get caught are the sloppy less impressive serial killers. I would be willing to bet there are at least 5 guys in the US that have over 20 bodies each and have never so much as been questioned by law enforcement. They are that good.

I think that too, but do you also think there are exceptional detectives in this world that could nail them? I mean if the evil geniuses from TV exist then something along the lines of a monk or Sherlock should be out there too, right? Obviously, a real world version. Maybe without the seemingly super human powers of perception, but just guys that are the Einsteins of crime solving?
