But lets be real Sean would settle this on a Sunday afternoon hard sparring session no need for all the hoopla.

To quote Conor McGregor, "Who the fuck is that guy?".

If Strickland doesn't shoot for a takedown as soon as the fight starts doumbe is going to play with him and extinguish his shin.

Plus doumbe is the funniest french mma fighter right now, his youtube channel is pure gold and he has an habit of making fun of Fernand Lopez which makes him the GOAT troll french fighter. He's like a french Paulo Costa but even funnier

Pereira's history with Adesanya is the reason he got fast tracked to the top, Doumbe isn't going to get that same luxury so he shouldn't waste his time flabbing his gums about any ranked opponent.
He is very marketable, but he should definitely take his time to take a top 10 WW. That division is so grappling heavy, it's gonna be very tough.
Right now, I can see him possibly beating wonderboy, Masvidal, Li Jingliang, Michel Pereira.

Yeah Doumbé is trashing Fernand Lopez on the internet, they have a history leading to this shit though<45>

Is Doumbé running his big mouth or is he indeed capable of catching Strickland with one of those big overhands?

(Doumbé’s last MMA-fight from Dec. 17)

He seems to wing a lot in his strikes. Has he fought at MW before? Why challenge Strickland then?

And Burillon looks and fights a lot like a French Davey Grant haha

Cédric Doumbé vs Paweł Klimas is set for MMA GP in Paris, Mar. 4

Why isn't he fighting in the UFC? What the fuck is going on here? Ridiculous!!!!!!!!!

The UFC doesn't want talented fighters. They want untalented chuds off of contender series who lose every fight.

No worries man he’s under contract, but can still do fights at the regional scene like this one to develop his game.
After this fight though, while being 4-0 (4 KO) in MMA with the kickboxing credentials Doumbé has, that should be enough to make the UFC decide to let him finally make his promotional debut right?

Doumbe's choice, he wants to make his UFC debut in France (or possibly Abu Dhabi), so he is taking regional fights to stay active meanwhile.

Did he call him out to fight at 170? I don't see Strickland dropping to WW. He's done it in the past, but he seems to be doing well at MW and is working towards a title shot.

Do we know what ultimately happened w/ Cédric Doumbé initially on the first Paris Card and why he pulled out or was removed from the Roster for a minute?

Check out this post of me on the first page of the thread sir. After reading you should completely understand what prevented that fight from taking place:
Doumbé is still under contract with the UFC, but at the same time he did some “development” fights outside the UFC.

And yeah there was a little problem with his scheduled UFC-debut in Paris last year.
The French commission prevented Doumbé from making his UFC debut in France because he was too inexperienced compared to his opponent (according to the French commission atleast).

MMA only became legal in France last year, but they still have some special rules for the sport.
According to their rules, someone <10 pro MMA bouts can’t fight someone with more than 4 MMA bouts than he got himself. When someone has 10 or more fights he can fight whoever he wants to fight. I will explain to you how it works below:

The originally scheduled Cédric Doumbé - Darian Weeks fight is off because Doumbé is an Elite 2 fighter in France (<10 fights, someone with 10 fights or more is an Elite 1 fighter), which means he can only fight against someone with no more than 6 MMA fights, since Doumbé has a MMA-record of 2-0.
Weeks got 7 fights, so the fight is not allowed to take place.

Weeks ‘only’ has 7 pro bouts (his amateur MMA-career not included). Doumbé got 2 MMA fights, but is a very experienced kickboxer.
Imo there should be no issues sanctioning this fight, unfortunately I’m not the French sanctioning body…

I agree that it’s a good rule to prevent guys from padding their records, but there should be exceptions for guys like Doumbé, Pereira, etc. who are very experienced/accomplished in other combat sports.
For example:
5-1 Alex Pereira KO’d 25-3 Sean Strickland inside 3 minutes despite a huge gap in ‘MMA’ experience.

I really don’t know why the UFC didn’t reschedule that fight outside of France or gave Doumbé another opponent. He’s quite a big draw and they potentially could build him up to a contender.

Hopefully the UFC gives Doumbé a fight after his win on December 17 at MMA GrandPrix.
I’m hoping for a fight at UFC London, maybe against someone like Blood Diamond?

Thanks! I usually read a majority of the post before commenting, but on this one I just commented without checking. Great explanation, and it all makes sense now (though I agree with you, it's crazy they don't take his Kickboxing career into the math).
