I wanted him to win. I don't like all of his shtick. I will always root for him though. Was a strange fight but I can't hold it against him

Of course it's intentional to get clicks, attention, and fans. The difference is just how ugly and personal it is getting. I think at some point there are diminishing returns, and talking about dead parents and child abuse is crossing the line where it won't be a benefit anymore- that is too real to be a part of any silly circus. I don't think there are many outside the hardcore fans and political radicals that agree with the kind of extreme talk they are engaging in. A metaphor would be that many normal people may like porn, but not many like scat and puke porn.
 
I think we gotta start looking at Leon though. He's had 3 title wins and a rough road to the title. He wasn't gonna be an easier fight than Kamaru. Leon is stellar as hell and could pave a legacy

I think it's a stretch to say he ever had actual fans, as much as people who would pay to listen to his rhetoric and hope to see get ko

He definitely had supporters when he did his pro Trump speeches but in his last 6 fights he's had 3 title shots. I can't see many running to his support.

This is nothing new. Even the great Ali said the most horrendous shit during the lead ups to his fights. Far worse than even Conor or Colby.

The whole point is that it creates this kind of polarizing reaction. People reacting negatively is exactly why it's so effective at selling tickets.

And for someone like Colby who otherwise wouldn't be a draw or lacks any semblance of charisma, going to those extremes in an attempt to make himself the villain is the only real play he has.

At the end of the day, it worked.
 
It's not like Leon landed a lot more on him.
Masvidal and Lawler landed way more punches than Edwards, while absolutely losing the fight.

First Usman fight, Kamaru landed over 3 times as much on him.

Both sucked, Leon just controlled the fight, slightly outlanding with cleaner and stronger punches and Colby was on the back foot.

Colby is all risk with high reward.. if he won it would be different I love seeing his trash talk and role play with trump was top notch

But him saying what he said bringing trump in it then losing and the way he did makes them all look bad he kinda took everyone down with him

Do people like you realise that it's just a character, he doesn't give a shit what people like you think and he's just fucking with people for attention?

...at one stage there was 14 threads on the first page alone in the heavies, talking about Colby yesterday so it's clearly working.
 
Good publicity, bad publicity, it's all the same. If you are going to tune in to watch him win or lose it's money in his pocket. Well at least in theory.

Before last Saturday he was 0-2 in title fights where one was gifted to him lol. Bisping and Oliveira had to get nearly 30 fights before they got their shot. Why keep acting like that when you can't even win?
