Robert De Niro and Edgar Ramirez Get HANDS OF STONE

robert-de-niro-edgar-ramirez-hands-of-stone-slice.jpg

When last reported on writer/director Jonathan Jakubowicz’s boxing biopic Hands of Stone, Gael Garcia Bernal (Letters to Juliet) and Al Pacino (Scarface) were in talks to play the leads. Now, it looks like Robert De Niro (Raging Bull) and Edgar Ramirez (Zero Dark Thirty) are set as trainer Ray Arcel and the focus of the biopic, Panamanian boxer Roberto Duran.

Winning 103 of 119 contests against such top-tier talent as Sugar Ray Leonard, Thomas Hearns, Marvin Hagler, Hector Camacho and Vinny Pazienza, Duran might be most remembered for the infamous fight against Leonard in which Duran called out, “No mas!” in order to quit the fight prematurely.

De Niro recently wrapped on another fighting pic – Peter Segal’s Grudge Match with Rocky himself, Sylvester Stallone – but will head to Panama in September to start production on Hands of Stone.

Per Deadline, here’s what producer Jay Weisleder had to say about the film: “The story of Roberto Duran and Ray Arcel is not only a homage to the golden days of boxing; it is most importantly the story of a fatherless man who teaches every single one of us the true meaning of never giving up.”

Jakubowicz further commented, saying: “The infamous “No Mas” fight is the biggest enigma in the history of boxing. This movie will answer the enigma, with the best talent any director can possibly dream.”

Edgar Wright Directed ANT-MAN Scene for IRON MAN 3 End Credits?

Ant-Man-Iron-Man-3-End-Credits-Dragonlord.jpg

Edgar Wright's Ant-Man movie has been confirmed to be part of Marvel Studios' Phase 3 plans and is scheduled to hit theaters on November 6, 2015. There's been little development on the project so far since Wright is currently busy with post-production for The World's End starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. Today, the filmmaker revealed to his fans that "aside from The World's End, I directed a one-shot in another summer movie. But which?" After his followers posted their guesses, Wright replied, "Yeah. Some of you got it right." Most of the guesses were an Ant-Man scene for Iron Man 3.

Last year, it was rumored that one of the two after-credits for Shane Black's Iron Man 3 would be Ant-Man related and would feature the Radioactive Man (played by Wang Xueqi) but the last part has sort of been debunked. What we know is that the other Iron Man 3 post-credit scene will tie up with 2014's Guardians of the Galaxy. Could Wright's tweet confirmed that Ant-Man will be introduced at the end of Iron Man 3 to set up his appearance in 2015's The Avengers sequel? If true, it also brings up the question: Who did Wright cast as Ant-Man in the Iron Man 3 end credit scene?

First Images and Plot Details for 300: RISE OF AN EMPIRE

The first images from director Noam Murro’s 300: Rise of an Empire are now available. We get a close-up of Sullivan Stapleton (Animal Kingdom) who stars as Themistocles, a Greek general who battles against the invading Persian army. The sequel to Zack Snyder’s 300 takes place at roughly the same time but will visit a variety of different locations (including the sea) and showcase appropriate tactics as the outnumbered Greeks attempt to defend their homeland. Also starring Rodrigo Santoro, Eva Green and Lena Headey, 300: Rise of an Empire opens August 2nd.

Murro spoke about the sequel, saying it “is tied visually to the original,” but owing to the sea battle, “there is a whole different choreography of fighting and war … [It] happens over time in many different locations. The opportunities for the six distinct battles are even greater with different locations and tactics.”

For fans of the original who loved the sacrifice the 300 made in their stand against the thousands of Persian soldiers, Murro is quick to state that the uphill battle against the odds is still upfront in the sequel: “The few against the many is still here. It’s hundreds vs. hundreds of thousands. It’s about taking on the mightiest power of all with wisdom and tactics.”

This time around, the plot will center on a battle against Artemesia (Green), “the vengeful commander of the Persian navy, who is second in command to the mortal-turned-god leader Xerxes (Santoro) and has the added incentive of seeking to settle a blood score against the Greeks who killed her family when she was a child.”

Sony Pictures has released the first poster for District 9 writer/director Neill Blomkamp's sci-fi thriller Elysium. Several media outlets were invited to invited to a special presentation that revealed the first footage from Elysium. Joined by producer Simon Kinberg and stars Sharlto Copley and Matt Damon (the latter via satellite), Blomkamp revealed the trailer which will be online tomorrow. Following that, a ten-minute montage of scenes was showcased that helped explain the film's plot in greater detail. Unfortunately, there are no plans to make it available to the general public. The film also stars Jodie Foster, Alice Braga, Diego Luna, Wagner Moura and William Fichtner. Elysium opens August 9th.

before Cinturao was banned I had friend requested 3 people, of those 3 two got banned. I only recently friend requested Dragon after years of discussing movie notes/upcoming movies with him... but I'm pretty sure it'll be damn near impossible for him to get banned
So... what you're saying is YOU are the cause of all these bannings.

Logic dictates that I should ban you before I get banned. Sorry.

Dragon, you're a young man! Don't do it, Dragon!!
I'm probably older than you, TGF.

New Green-Band Theatrical Trailer for Jeff Wadlow's KICK-ASS 2

Kick-Ass-2-Sparring-Dragonlord.jpg

Universal Pictures has released a new theatrical trailer for Jeff Wadlow's Kick-Ass 2. The green-band trailer is basically the same as the red-band trailer released a few weeks ago except for some brief new footage. I was hoping they would change the lackluster music for the trailer but to no avail. The film also stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Jim Carrey, Morris Chestnut, Lyndsy Fonseca, Yancy Butler, Donald Faison, John Leguizamo, Lindy Booth, Nicolas Cage and Olga Kurkulina (the only person Cinturao will give "it" up to). Kick-Ass 2 opens on August 16, 2013.

Synopsis: Inspired by Kick-Ass (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), other masked heroes appear. One such, Colonel Stars and Stripes (Jim Carrey), forms a team and Kick-Ass joins them on patrol, while Hit Girl (Chloe Grace Moretz) "retires", and tries to have a normal life. Meanwhile Red Mist (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) — reborn as The Mother Fucker — returns to play super-villain with his army, and take out his revenge on Kick-Ass.

Jon Chu Says MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE Won't Be Campy

He-Man-Battle-Skeletor-Dragonlord.jpg

Jon M. Chu: "We're still in the beginning stages, designing a ton, and this is sort of the most fun phase, because we get to do a bunch of different designs of the world, and the costumes, and make a lot of mistakes, as much as we can, so we know where we shouldn't go, and where we should be headed, in terms of the tone and the look of the movie."

"We're going for slightly more serious, and I wouldn't say "serious" as a dark tone you don't necessarily want He-Man to be in, but it's not campy. We're not going campy. It's sort of an origin story of how He-Man came to be, and to me that gives you a lot of opportunity to create real culture in this world. What is Eternia really like, what are the cultures, what are the languages they're speaking, what are Snake Men, what are Beast Men, what are all these things, and how do they exist in this world? So we're taking a real look at creating life on this planet, on this world, that hopefully will translate."

"And again, we're in a very early designing phase of it, the script is great, but we're still very early at figuring out exactly how theatrical we go, and how real we go, and how dark we can take it. It's a little too early to tell [on how they'll cast the dual roles of He-Man and Prince Adam]. We're playing with the technique of how we'll actually pull that off."

BLACK PANTHER in AVENGERS 2? Morris Chestnut in Contention?

Morris-Chestnut-Black-Panther-Dragonlord.jpg

Rumors have been swirling following a now-deleted Twitter and Facebook post on the part of actor Morris Chestnut that suggested the Kick-Ass 2 star might be up for the lead in a Black Panther feature film from Marvel Studios and Walt Disney Pictures. "It's time to get familiar with the Black Panther character!," read the deleted post.

Today, Chestnut is back on Twitter and just posted the following update: "Not final," he writes. "#BlackPanther may be in #avengers2 first. RT @jamaal91604133: @Morris_Chestnut Can't wait to see this movie. #BlackPanther

Admittedly, Chestnut's comments are open to alternate interpretations, but it certainly sounds like the actor is up for the part and has been told that T'Challa's big screen debut could arrive with Joss Whedon's Marvel's The Avengers 2 on May 1, 2015.

Anne Hathaway Joins Christopher Nolan’s INTERSTELLAR

Anne-Hathaway-DLX-1.jpg

Anne Hathaway will reteam with Christopher Nolan to star in the director’s upcoming sci-fi film, Interstellar, according to Deadline. Since Nolan is all about the secrecy, all that is known regarding the plot is that it’s about “a heroic interstellar voyage to the furthest reaches of our scientific understanding.” Matthew McConaughey has already signed on, but doesn’t have any details on either role. Hathaway is the latest actor who has clearly developed a strong working relationship with Nolan. She joins Christian Bale, Marion Cotillard, Tom Hardy, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Michael Caine for the group of actors who have worked with the direction on more than one film. Caine has been in every Nolan film since Batman Begins.

Hathaway has a slate of indies coming up as she comes off her recent Oscar win for Les Miserables. She’s currently set to star in a modern retelling of Taming of the Shrew, the romance Song One, and Lynne Shelton‘s dark comedy, Laggies. She was attached to star in Steven Spielberg‘s Robopocalypse, but Spielberg took the project back to the drawing board, so Interstellar provides the nice blockbuster picture in the actress’ schedule.

First Trailer for Neill Blomkamp's ELYSIUM Starring Matt Damon

Elysium-1st-Image-Matt-Damon-Dragonlord.jpg

Sony Pictures has released the first trailer for Neill Blomkamp's highly-anticipated sci-fi thriller Elysium. The story takes place in 2159 where two classes of people are roughly divided: the wealthy live on a man-made space station called Elysium, while the rest of the humans inhabit an overpopulated and ruined Earth. Secretary Rhodes (Jodie Foster), a hard line government official, will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve the luxurious lifestyle of the citizens of Elysium. That doesn’t stop the people of Earth from trying to get in, by any means they can. When unlucky Max (Matt Damon) is backed into a corner, he agrees to take on a daunting mission that, if successful, will not only save his life, but could bring equality to these polarized worlds.

The trailer begins by showing us the luxurious world of Elysium before revealing the grungy, desert-like Earth. Blomkamp looks to have crafted an incredibly detailed and vast sci-fi world here, and the visuals are absolutely stunning. The action sequences look excellent as well and Damon appears to be kicking all kinds of ass, but most importantly Blomkamp has crafted yet another timely, socially-conscious story that speaks volumes to the current issues facing our world.

Elysium looks to be a wholly original sci-fi property that asks audiences to think while also providing entertainment value in spades. The film also stars Sharlto Copley, William Fichtner, Wagner Moura, Alice Braga, and Diego Luna. Elysium opens on August 9th.

Antje Traue Joins Dwayne Johnson in Brett Ratner's HERCULES

Antje-Traue-Hercules-Dragonlord.jpg

Director Brett Ratner took to Twitter today to announce the latest bit of casting for his upcoming Hercules film and it's none other than Man of Steel's Antje Traue. Though he didn't say which role she would play, she joins an ensemble cast that includes Dwayne Johnson in the title role along with Ian McShane, Rufus Sewell, Aksel Hennie, Joseph Fiennes, John Hurt, and Rebecca Ferguson. Co-produced by MGM and Paramount Pictures, the film will be based on the Radical Publishing "Hercules" comic books of which there were two series; "The Thracian Wars" and "The Knives of Kush," both written by Steve Moore with art by Cris Bolsin.

The screenplay for the film version was written by Ryan Condol. MGM's Roger Birnbaum, Gary Barber and Jonathan Glickman will produce with Peter Berg and his Film 44 partner Sarah Aubrey, as well as Barry Levine of Radical Pictures, whose Jesse Berger will executive produce. Hercules is slated to hit theaters on July 25, 2014.

Bryan Cranston, Mads Mikkelsen, Rebel Wilson Join KUNG FU PANDA 3

bryan-cranston-mads-mikkelsen-rebel-wilson-kung-fu-panda-3-slice.jpg

The voice cast for DreamWorks Animation’s sequel Kung Fu Panda 3 is starting to fill out quite nicely. Jack Black, Angelina Jolie, Seth Rogen, and other unspecified actors are reprising their roles from the first two animated films, but Heat Vision reports that Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad), Mads Mikkelsen (Hannibal), and Rebel Wilson (Pitch Perfect) have also been set as new additions to the film. Kung Fu Panda 2 director Jennifer Yuh Nelson returns to helm the follow-up, which also sees the return of executive producer Guillermo del Toro, producer Melissa Cobb, co-producer Jeffrey Hermann, and writers/co-producers Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger.

Story details are firmly under wraps, but the ending of Kung Fu Panda 2 provides a strong hint that the third film will involve Black’s Po meeting his real father. Del Toro previously told us that Kung Fu Panda 3 has “the most formidable villain in the series,” and either Cranston or Mikkelsen would certainly fit that bill. Additionally, Kung Fu Panda 3 will now open on December 23, 2015 instead of March 2016.

Garret Dillahunt (Raising Hope), Tom Felton (Harry Potter), and Jake Abel (The Host) have officially signed to star in Ghosts of the Pacific, a WWII thriller based on a true story about three Navy airmen stranded in the South Pacific Ocean in 1942 after their plane crashes. With the American Film Company on board, production is set to commence on April 15th at Baja Studios.

According to the press release, American Film Company President Brian Falk will make his directorial debut with Ghosts of the Pacific. Written by Mark David Keegan and Falk, Ghosts will begin production on April 15th at the Baja Studios, home to the world’s largest outdoor water tank, which was also used in James Cameron’s Titanic.
