Teaser Trailer for CHILD OF GOD Directed by James Franco

Child-of-God-Movie-Dragonlord.jpg

The first teaser trailer for director James Franco's Child of God has landed online. The trailer doesn't show much, just actor Scott Haze snarling, a voiceover, and banjo music. Based on the book by Cormac McCarthy, the film tells the story of Lester Ballard, an exile already on the fringes who retreats to living in a cave, falling into crime and debauchery. Haze also appears in Franco's adaptation of William Faulkner's As I Lay Dying, which was shown at Cannes earlier this year. Co-starring Franco, Tim Blake Nelson and Jim Parrack, Child of God hits Venice and Toronto Film Festival in the next couple of weeks, but there's no distributor or release date set just yet.

Synopsis: Set in mountainous Sevier County, Tennessee in the 1960s, Child of God tells the story of Lester Ballard (Scot Haze), a dispossessed, violent man whom the narrator describes as "a child of God much like yourself perhaps." Ballard's life is a disastrous attempt to exist outside the social order. Deprived of both his parents and a home, and with few other ties, Ballard descends to the level of a cave dweller, falling deeper into crime and degradation.

We-Are-What-We-Are-Remake-Dragonlord.jpg

We Are What We Are, a remake of the Mexican horror film of the same name, premiered at Sundance in January to very good reviews. The first trailer is here, and it is effectively creepy. The film tells the story of the Parker family, who after their mother passes away from a rare disease, turns to the eldest daughter to carry on the traditions. Bill Sage (Boardwalk Empire), Ambyr Childers (The Master), Julia Garner (Martha Marcy May Marlene), Michael Parks, Kelly McGillis, Nick Damici, Wyatt Russell, and Jack Gore star. Directed by Jim Mickle (Stake Land), We Are What We Are opens in limited release on September 27.

Synopsis: A seemingly wholesome and benevolent family, the Parkers, have always kept to themselves, and for good reason. Behind closed doors, patriarch Frank rules his family with a rigorous ferver, determined to keep his ancestral customs intact at any cost. As a torrential rainstorm moves into the area, tragedy strikes and his daughters Iris and Rose are forced to assume responsibilities that extend beyond those of a typical family. As the unrelenting downpour continues to flood their small town, the local authorities begin to uncover clues that bring them closer to the secret that the Parkers have held closely for so many years.

Louis Leterrier Returning to Direct NOW YOU SEE ME Sequel

Louis-Leterrier-Now-You-See-Me-1-Dragonlord.jpg

One of the summer's biggest surprise success stories was that of the magic-based ensemble heist flick Now You See Me, directed by Louis Leterrier (Clash of the Titans). Having grossed nearly $300 million worldwide, it was probably no surprise when Lionsgate announced earlier this month that they were going to move forward with a sequel to the movie with no other details. Speaking with ComingSoon, Leterrier confirmed that he will return to helm Now You See Me 2, and revealed that the first film was always planned as one half of a larger story:

“I’m currently, not writing, but we’re coming up with the story, the plot, the everything, the twist and the new characters and everything. It was always at least a diptych, two movies, to tell one long story, so yeah, I’m very much involved in it. I don’t know if it’s going to be my next movie. I know we want to do it pretty fast but I might be able to do another movie in between.”

BatvsSup-Bandeau.jpg

Press Release: The Michigan Film Office announced today that the next DC Entertainment Super Hero movie from Warner Bros. Pictures has been approved for a film incentive from the state. The film, from director Zack Snyder, brings together the two greatest Super Heroes of all time—Superman and Batman—for the first time on the big screen.

Production on the new film is expected to begin in metro Detroit and throughout Michigan sometime in the first quarter of 2014. Snyder is co-writing the story with David S. Goyer, who is writing the screenplay. Charles Roven and Deborah Snyder are producing the film, which will star Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane.

The as-yet-untitled feature film was awarded an incentive of $35 million on $131 million of projected in-state expenditures. The production is expected to hire 406 Michigan workers, with a full time equivalent of 426 jobs, plus an additional 6,000 man/days of extra work. The production anticipates using approximately 500 local Michigan vendors during the course of production and spending $5.1 million on local hotels, as well as an additional $3.5 million in out-of-town cast and crew per diem payments that will be spent in the local economy but which fall outside of the incentive program.

The Superman/Batman movie hits theaters on July 17, 2015.

New HERCULES Image Shows Battle Scars, Claw and Bite Marks

Today Dwayne Johnson has tweeted a new behind-the-scenes image from Hercules revealing a frame from his four-hour daily make-up routine, complete with battle scars that suggest he’s been involved in a few skirmishes (perhaps a particularly laborious one against a lion of legend?). The heroic look certainly lends itself to the film’s approach of a more realistic retelling of the mythological monster-slayer. Johnson tweeted: "Blade slashes, claw & animal teeth gashes. Daily 4hr make up process. #DontTouchMyPec #HERCULESMovie"

The film also stars Ian McShane, Rufus Sewell, Joseph Fiennes, Peter Mullan, John Hurt, Rebecca Ferguson, Ingrid Bolso Berdal, Askel Hennie and Reece Ritchie. Hercules: The Thracian Wars opens on July 25, 2014.

First Trailer for Bodybuilding Documentary GENERATION IRON

Generation-Iron-Poster-Dragonlord.jpg

An official trailer has debuted for a documentary titled Generation Iron examining the lives of the top seven bodybuilders and the highly competitive sport of bodybuilding that they compete in. Or rather, the sport they've dedicated their entire lives to. Despite the hardcore, no-excuses nature of bodybuilding this documentary seems to have a softer side, touching upon the drugs, mental challenges and emotional struggles they experience. Mickey Rourke narrates the doc (but not the trailer) and Arnold Schwarzenegger appears briefly as Mr. Olympia.

Directed by Russian filmmaker Vlad Yudin, Generation Iron examines the professional sport of bodybuilding today and gives the audience front row access to the lives of the top 7 bodybuilders (including Phil Heath, Kai Greene, Branch Warren and Dennis Wolf) in the sport as they train to compete in the world's most premiere bodybuilding stage—Mr. Olympia. Generation Iron opens on September 20th.

ASS BACKWARDS Trailer Starring Casey Wilson, June Diane Raphael

332vx42.jpg

The first trailer for the comedy Ass Backwards has been released online. Directed by Chris Nelson, the film tells the story of two best friends (June Diane Raphael, Casey Wilson) who embark on a cross country trip back to their hometown to attempt to win a pageant that eluded them as children. There’s a strong Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion vibe in this trailer, and the comedic pairing of Wilson and Rapahel (who also co-wrote the film together) is definitely promising. The film also stars Alicia Silverstone, Jon Cryer, Vincent D’Onofrio, Brian Geraghty, Bob Odenkirk, Paul Scheer, and Sandy Martin. Ass Backwards will be available VOD on September 30th and hits theaters on November 8th.

Synopsis: Kate (June Diane Raphael) and Chloe (Casey Wilson) are two childhood best friends who met when they placed dead last in their hometown beauty pageant. Now they are all grown up and living in New York City, where Chloe works as a “girl in a box” at a nightclub and Kate is a CEO….of her own one-woman egg donor “corporation”. Lost in delusion, they believe they are living large until an invitation to their hometown pageant arrives and their past comes back to haunt them. Join these two loveable losers as they take an ass backwards journey home to reclaim their crown, stopping off at a women’s separatist commune, an amateur strip club competition, and meeting their favorite reality TV star along the way.

Kurt Russell in Talks to Join James Wan's FAST & FURIOUS 7

Kurt-Russell-Joins-Fast-Furious-7-Dragonlord.jpg

After bringing out a fresh face in UFC star Ronda Rousey to join the cast of Fast & Furious 7, Universal has moved onto veteran actor to join its acting ranks with Kurt Russell in negotiations to join the next installment. No description on who Russell would be playing, but sources say it is the role that Universal originally offered to Denzel Washington — clearly showing its importance to the films story.

Fast & Furious 7 brings back most of its talent from the franchise, including Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, producer Neal H. Moritz and writer Chris Morgan with James Wan coming on as director. Moritz and Diesel return as producers. No plot details have been unveiled yet, except that the film will return to Los Angeles after the previous five films were set in other locations.

This May’s Fast & Furious 6 is the highest grossing film for Universal, having made more than $750 million at the worldwide box office. Russell has taken it easy on how what roles he has taken in recent years with his last major film being Quentin Tarantino’s Death Proof.

Kathleen Turner Joins the Farrelly's DUMB AND DUMBER Sequel

Kathleen-Turner-The-Perfect-Family-Dragonlord.jpg

Kathleen Turner (Romancing the Stone, Who Framed Roger Rabbit?) is set to get fairly dumb for the Farrelly brothers. According to Variety, the stage and screen star has boarded Universal's upcoming Dumb and Dumber To, which will once again star Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels. For now, the plot is being kept under wraps, as is Turner's role. Previous reports speculated that the film would find Carrey and Daniels on a cross-country road trip.

Peter and Bobby Farrelly will return to helm the sequel as well as rewrite the original script written by Sean Anders and John Morris. Warner Bros was originally behind the project, but dropped the film earlier this summer. The original buddy comedy was a box office hit, grossing $127,175,374 in the United States, and $247,275,374 worldwide, and topping the holiday season film gross.

Kathleen Turner is well known for her many starring film roles, including Body Heat, The Man With Two Brains, Crimes of Passion, The War of the Roses, Peggy Sue Got Married, among many others. Turner also has won critical acclaim for her stage performances on and off Broadway.

New Story Details and First Set Photos for INTERSTELLAR

Interstellar-Set-0822-Dragonlord.jpg

Details on Christopher Nolan‘s films are kept under lock and key until the marketing onslaught begins, but new info may have emerged regarding his new movie, Interstellar. Previously, the logline only told us the story was about “a group of explorers who make use of a newly discovered wormhole to surpass the limitations on human space travel and conquer the vast distances involved in an interstellar voyage.” Now, in an unexpected development, the reason for their exploration may involve corn.

The Fort Macleod Gazette is reporting the following: Set in the future, the movie details the toll climate change has taken on agriculture, with corn the last crop to be cultivated. The scientists embark on a journey through a worm hole into other dimensions in search of somewhere other crops can be grown.

Filming for Interstellar commenced in Fort Macloed, which is located in Alberta, Canada. Matthew McConaughey, John Lithgow, Jessica Chastain and Topher Grace were all spotted on set. Most of the action has taken place on the town's Main Street. Nolan has had his crew using industrial-sized fans to whip up a blinding dust storm. Then vehicles with actors, such as McConaughey with John Lithgow, drove through the storm in a pickup truck. Click HERE, HERE and HERE to the set photos.
