Damn you got a good memory of that roll! Nicely done man.

Who has the grappling edge between B.J. and GSP?

The grappling is just one of many reasons why this fight is gonna be awesome. Penn may have better pure BJJ, but GSP is probably the best at using a combination of wrestling (takedowns and td defense), subs, and striking on the ground. This is going to be such an amazing fight. They're my two...

    Face Cranks in practice

I think the level of acceptance of neck cranks and cross faces entirely depends on where you train. At one place I trained, it was very common and we practiced them a lot. At my BJJ school though, that kinda stuff does not fly. *edited to add that I hate neck cranks and cross facing. Save...

Boy uses jj to save girl from pitbull

Reverse naked choke FTW! Good job kid. Who says BJJ isn't meant for the streets?

    Aoki's the fudging man

Gotta give it up to Alvarez for landing that sick throw however. I think he just got a little sloppy afterwards and gave Aoki an opening to snatch his foot.

    Aoki's the fudging man

That was a good fight. His butt scoot chase was funny too. I kinda wished it lasted a little longer though.

    A Common Bjj Rookie Mistake

You're correct...I'm under your "MMA blogs" section in fact. Welcome to sherdog.

    A Common Bjj Rookie Mistake

Position before submission is something all rookies should focus on. This is a fairly general mistake, that lots of new guys and even some seasoned guys make once in a while.

    A Common Bjj Rookie Mistake

Being new to training BJJ doesn't mean the guy can't cover MMA from a journalistic point of view.

    more belt drama

You earned the blue so I'd recommend wearing it. I find it odd, that another instructor would find it disrespectful for wearing a belt you earned.

    Which gym would you pick?

^Where are you living? AMC is in Kirkland while the rest of the places you listed are way down south.

    Which gym would you pick?

Definitely check out both before signing up. Seems like Impact is a more BJJ oriented place while TQ is more MMA oriented.

    Any Of You Tried Systema?

Never done systema or krav, but i have a little experience doing escrima/kali and they all sound fairly similar in that they're all "reality based" self defense styles. i enjoyed doing the filipino stuff, but ultimately gave it up to focus more on sub wrestling/bjj and boxing/kickboxing

    the gyms in my area

Hard to judge based off websites alone, but MAMMA seems like more of an MMA gym. The other place seems ok for Filipino Arts and JKD, but none of the instructors seem to be qualified grappling instructors.

    Question on Kneeing the bag

Hmm, i think everyone's been there before. Some heavybags are just so hard, there's really nothing you can do to prevent bruising. I'm no doctor, but I've never heard of anyone suffering ligament damage just by throwing knees to a bag. Are there any other bags in your gym? Find a slightly softer...

    BJJ in Spanaway, WA?

Yeah, Spanaway is way out there. Marcelo has a gym in Puyallup, but the schedule is fairly limited. There's also Foster's BJJ, but thats in Auburn. There's two MMA gyms in Lacey (United Training Center and Academy of Brian Johnson Karate). Theres also a new BJJ place in Olympia called BJJ of...
