LHW was arguable the most stacked division in MMA for years, going all the way back to the Pride days. The division only declined after Jon Jones came around and cleaned it out.
I hope he was on something and this isn't the new CTE Connor McGregor. It's not like he fought way past his prime taking constant KO's like Chuck Liddell did. Conor really doesn't have that many miles on him compared to most others his age.
He fought his way into the UFC by working in smaller shows, and then when he got into the UFC he worked his way up the ranks by winning more fights than he lost. That's how it works for everyone. So what the hell are you talking about? The situations are completely different.
In boxing he...
It should have dropped when Lennox Lewis became champion. That's when the downfall started. From Lewis onward all of these HW "champions" were inferior to the champions that came before them.
Not sure why so many people were surprised. Fans need to realize that boxing is a dying sport. For years, dumb boxing fans paid money to watch Floyd Mayweather pretend to be the best ever and then he went to a decision to a guy who got famous for making dumb youtube videos.
Boxing in 2023 is a...
What do you mean by "TUF Prospect"? That implies he competed on the show but never made it to the UFC. Riddle had something like a 10-3 MMA record. The only reason he was let go was because he was a fool who wouldn't stop smoking weed and two of his wins got turned into a no contest. He wasn't...
Did you really just compare the star power of Ali and Tyson during their prime to the Klitschko brothers? Oh come on, you're being ridiculous.
Boxing has just as much talent now as it always has had but there are too many belts, too many guys ducking each other, and too many guys cherry...
You must have drunk the cool-aid. Nate was the most cringe fighter ever. Nick was a much more badass fighter in his prime, and a more talented fighter too. Not to take anything away from Nate, he was a good fighter and a legit top 10 competitor in his weight class but most of his "I'm such a...
I was never a Pride fanatic, I always said (and was proven right) that a lot of the top UFC guys at the time could compete with the best Pride fighters but I really miss Pride now. We're not getting better fights having most of the best fighters under one umbrella. Things have gotten really...
You're intentionally ignoring everyone's point. The guy is blatantly ducking his greatest challenger. And that ignores all of his other antics which should have gotten him stripped a long time ago if boxing had their shit together. The entire concept of "lineal champion" means nothing under the...
A youtube guy pulling numbers like that would be damn impressive. Most "real" boxers don't get numbers like that nowadays. However Jakes numbers were estimated to be much higher than that, so you're just making shit up. There is a thousand legitimate things to bash him over but you pick the one...
On come on, Matt Serra was definitely not a TUF guy nor was he looked at as one back then. He was an experienced vet who competed on TUF in a special season. The clip makes it look like he dominated GSP but really he won the fight with one good punch in a flash knockout.
You're clueless. Jones moved up in weight after he felt he accomplished all he could in LHW. There were still challenges left, maybe, but no real compelling fights. No one is claiming Jon Jones is the best HW of all-time, though he just might be the best one TODAY.
