Media Alex Pereira on Anthony Smith: "Washed up vet who never amounted to anything"

I do recall Anthony said he'd beat Alex in pure stand up and his striking wasn't that great on that podcast he shares his collective braincell with Bisping so this is is basically a reality check for that Sloth from Goonies impersonator.

Did someone misquote Smith to Pereira?

Smith was largely complimentary about Alex. Poatan just sounds butthurt here.

Yeah Smith says Alex is a good technical striker but then Alex says he doesn't appreciate people downplaying his technical skills after everything he has accomplished so it seems likely something was mistranslated there.

Either way, it seems likely that they will cross paths at some point so maybe Alex is just selling the fight ahead of time. If Alex doesn't already like him and think he's an good matchup to rack up another brutal knockout, makes sense he would jump into this promo without doing his homework.

Big talk for a guy who scraped by with a gift decision against an old man in his last fight. He better hope he doesn't run into Anthony in the streets. I can only imagine what lion heart would do to him.

No he got special treatment because he had a storyline with Izzy without that he would have gotten none of the opportunities handed to him

Lots and lots of fighters grind but get zero of the hand outs Alex had

He wouldn't have gotten his "handout" if he wasn't double champion in Glory or knocked out a top 5 MW in half a round. At this point, how can you say he doesn't deserve to be in the position that he is in?

Anthony Smith says Jon Jones is well-coached, but beatable: 'He's not that good'
“Jon Jones is beatable – very beatable,” Smith told Morning Kombat. “He’s not that good – not individually. If you take his individual skill sets and you take them away, each one of those things are not a problem."

Yeah, if you take away both of Jon Jones legs Jones is probably beatable
If Jones is so beatable, why hasn't anybody beat him?

What Alex said is right but it sounds very mean and disrespectful

Smith lost his first set of teeth to Alex’s coach Texeira. If he was to fight Perreira he would lose his new set. Better not to poke the beast on this one.

I wonder how many cellmates have this coversation with this same position in certain prisons of the world.

So much saltiness about Smith for some reason. He's a journeyman/gate-keeper with some big wins and a nice run or two. He's also fought much, much more competition, and generally higher, than Alex has...for large swaths of his career. I think they're both right, but Alex got triggered by it. Would love to see Alex lose his next fight, and then face Smith. That should settle it ;)

This isn't as bad as most of the things Smith says, sometimes he comes across as pretty intelligent and respectful, and then next hes stating that he would fire all of his coaches if they threw in the towel while he's be blasted by 4 guys with samurai swords.
Don't know what to make of the guy

Smith is constantly talking shit about other fighters and acting as if he's the greatest mind to ever walk the Earth.
Did Alex go unnecessarily hard? Yes. Does Smith deserve it? Probably.
