Battlefront II

I put almost 20 hours into it. If they had put as much time a effort into trying to make a game with good game play and maps as they did trying to rip people off it could have been a good game.
tbh, its not bad gameplay. It's just not anything special. If you reskinned the base gameplay it'd just feel like another battlefield game

Its not a reskin of any specific battlefield, mind, but the difference between this and battlefield 4 isn't substantially different between that between battlefield 4 and battlefield 1. Except + starwars elements, like heros and stuff.

But 64 player conquest mode adds so much then just basic assault map that turns into a grenade spam fest at the end, shit gets boring pretty fast. I want a start wars game so bad and this pissed me off so much. You know they could make a amazing game with the talent and resources they have but they just care about dat micro money.

still not buying it

If you buy this game you're essentially a traitor to the gaming community. That's how bad this is.
  • 2013: Microsoft Xbox One launch debacle
  • 2014:
  • 2015:
  • 2016: No Man's Sky vaporware
  • 2017: Battlefront II microtransaction debacle
I'm failing to remember anything from 2014 or 2015 that registers on this level (let's leave #GG out of this).

Oh, I'm cross-posting the shit out of this:

Fully agree, I feel like Fut has completely Fucked gaming.

EA make so much money from it they just want to make every game like it.

I'm ashamed to say i was fooled by that scam in Fifa 14-15, i pumped a decent amount of money into Ultimate Team.

Now i wait until fifas are down to like £20 before i buy and only play it when friends are round. Ultimate team could have been an amazing feature, if they didn't just try to suck the money out of your wallet and it was fair in general(no scripting)

lol there's nothing wrong in liking it. I'm glad you like it and don't feel like you helped perpetuate shady business practices, no sarcasm. I wish I could do that end enjoy the game. i'm sure it's tons of fun when you're not facing the overpowered whales who got in early. I really wanted to play this game, as i'm craving an upgraded graphical version of classic BF.

You're a traitor, but the only one who suffers in the short-term is you.

Have fun getting raped by some snot-nosed kid like my one of my best friend's nephew because he's running around on Dad's Amex Black in full-blown Gameshark mode against you in competitive multiplayer. Enjoy the role of the AI boss. Or, I dunno, maybe have fun being the snot-nosed kid.

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner ain't for you.

Didn't it also get proven it was scripted game play?

That even the best cards weren't their actual ratings.
I wouldn't be surprised. I'm surprised FIFA is so popular, PES is the far superior game. It's a shame FIFA gobbles up all those licenses.

Not a good gauge but my friends list only has 1-3 players playing this game. Lowest I've seen for any new AAA games yet..

Really curious to see the sales figures so far...

These are gambling tactics you'd see in a casino, only you're paying $60 to have access to it and it's marketed to children. There's no regulation here and it's targeting addicts and children through a lot of manipulation.

I don't have a problem with these complaints or anyone's disgust with monetization-game imbalancing issues but I would point out that many, many products have been marketed to children with this exact randomized loot system, down to 25 cent dispensers of random collectibles like "Homies" or sticker tattoos or...drum roll, please: pokemon/digimon/yu-gi oh/magic card packs with random loot in every pack, not to mention higher-end collectible card pack versions with a 'greater chance of better loot'...

Randomized rewards are even embedded in board game structure "draw a card from the pile and see what you won" seen in Monopoly, clue, the game of Life, Old Maid, even Scrabble letters

So as far as saying you don't like how capitalism is just now starting to offer kids random, inconstant rewards for continually playing or investing money in something, I would counter that these systems have been in place for years, and profited greatly from randomizing their product payouts.

Here's where you'd probably see some poster follow that up with "teach your kids financial responsibility before they spend every last dollar they own on pokemon card packs" but in Scotland we used to laugh at kids that didn't have self control, so there's always the humor-based reinforcement system as well. Let your kid overspend on 5 packs of candy and mock his face when he learns he did that to his own budget. You have options. Just don't blame randomized paid packs in video games for teaching your kid gambling habits when trading cards and grocery store quarter slots have been doing it for years, and anyone who lives in a capitalist sell-everything society does in fact, need to learn when to stop buying everything they could potentially buy

Your kid knows that any given chuck e cheese or dave and busters rewards fabulous, dazzling prizes for 15,000 tickets but they soon learn compromise in those "sky is the limit" paid-prize environments

And a bunch of the maps (ex. Mos Eisley), and the fact that it's from the identical sprawling MMO third person shooter subgenre with classes, kill/streak perks, and vehicle play.

Except for that?

Not really the old games had big maps with lots of players and objectivs. The new one is just a run and gun corridor shooter. The maps play exactly the same and all turn into a 3 lane grenade spam fest because they are so small. Only 40 players as well and the classes mostly play the the same minus a skill or two. They are pretty different games you can tell one was made the be the best they could make and one was made as simple and easy as possible.

Personally me and my bro enjoy it lol.

Played like 8 hrs straight friday and saturday with my bro.

Graphics are obviously good, gameplay is much more balanced (I can kill heroes without needing a hero myself), starfighter mode is pretty fun as well.

And we've been getting plenty of loot crates as well, via in-game credits.

You're splitting hairs: losing the forest for the trees.

Tetris is a game that "doesn't really have anything in common" with the new Battlefront 2.

How am I splitting hairs have you played new battlefront? It's a far cry from the old ones and missing lots of things that made the old ones great.

yeah. Still not buying this or NBA 2k18.

Not interested in some mega-grindfest and supporting games that rely on microtransactions. The majority of the games I play are single player focused, so I'm not that affected. But, a game like Battlefront which is majority multiplayer shouldn't have anything other than cosmetic microtransactions.

in sum, fuck em.

My dumbass 17 year old cousin bought both. NBA 2k18 might be worse than BF2. Most of the normal customization options for create a players that were included normally in past games are now locked behind vc. It takes hours worth of grinding to unlock enough vc for a single haircut, arm band, etc. And even then, you cannot preview the item you want, or how it looks like on your character.

Seriously, they can fuck themselves. And on top of all that, the game is trash. Terrible AI. Rack up the sliders to max, and still, all you have to do to win a game against the ai is be a tall pg, and rack up like 8 pts, 4 or 5 assists, and the ai will most likely auto double team you every possession. So it becomes nothing more than a sequence of dribble to point, pass to wide open C-PF, repeat. And that is on top of maaaaany other shitty ai regressions.

The NBA 2k games have sucked balls since 2012.

The industry has really gone down the shitter this year. So many potentially great games ruined because of shit like this.

I used to watch game award shows and the E3s of the world in awe of all the cool game announcememts we would get. But how can anyone still be hyped for future releases at this point? You KNOW they'll find a way to make the experience as unpleasant as possible.
