BJJ Tattoos

I'd never have my association logo tattoo'd on me... you never know, something might happen resulting in your falling out with your instructor or important people in the association, and you'd be forced to train elsewhere. But the tattoo would remain.

Or what if you converted to being a Judo nuthugger instead of a BJJ nuthugger?

And so on...

For me my association (I have opened a gym where I'm teaching, although I'm not affiliated yet, but I'm working on it) will be for life. It's like your favorite, let's say, basketball team. You can't switch preferences. Even if the team disappears from the scene. Unless you're (generally speaking) a tool...

yup... i know a guy with a `TT jiu jitsu' tat, oops!

seems like the best bet is to get a real general politicaly corect tattoo like; "martial arts" or "sport"

To me Tattoos on a woman are like spray paint on a rolls royce. Just a thought

It is like having your bike modified by Jesse James dude, awesome

I'm thinking about getting a general BJJ tat rather than my team's name. At one point I'd designed a tattoo that said "I am the tyranny of evil men" in kanji to go down on side of my back, but I can't afford it now.

I think ink is a great way to express personal flair. Some tattoos are stupid-looking to me, but they really aren't for me, they're for the person that got them.

thats my theory on tats in general...i just feel as if when your 70, u probably arent still going to want barb wire on your bicep, u know

When Im 70 I dont think I will care to much...or that will be the least of my worries anyway.

Good way of looking at it but I disagree on the account of a majority of people. Tattoos seem to be mostly for others by yourself. Why else would you get a tattoo if the message is only for yourself? Tattoos IMO are a way of letting people into a detail about yourself or for other people to attract some sort of attention. Kinda like when people get those Tapout or badboy tats.. It's a way of saying "Hey... notice me? I'm a fighter!". Or school tats for OTHERS to recognize they are part of a club or a team. Even for original foreign cultures that utilized tattoos it was apart of SHOWING something to others. Not saying tattoos aren't personal but I believe the main purpose is to attract attention of some sort. And of course there's absolutely nothing wrong with that incentive.

when youre 70 theyll have technology to get rid of tattoos in one sitting. that being said, unless youre a very high ranking belt, i wouldnt even think about getting a BJJ tat. ive been training for 5 years, and i wouldnt get a bjj tat until at least brown belt. the triangle is a great tattoo though in principle 'whatever side its on, its always solid.'

Comne on which ever style you begin in will always have a place in your heart man, even If I see myself starting BJJ when I get a chance or even jsut MMA training judo will still be pboth part of my childhood and now what has got me into a wider approach to grappling

i really hope you have trained all your life with barra and recieved your blackbelt from barra. I hope to god you did...

ya I couldnt agree more......I have a bunch of pieces that represent me and what I believe in but to put something on your body that A) You never thought of or B) Like someone said I pray you are a blackbelt.

IMO Taz is just plain goddy

trust me on this, walking into a tattoo shop and requesting a taz on any part of your body, unless you know the guy is a bad idea. you'll get a decent tattoo most likely, but the artist will think you're a tool. one of the most made fun of tattoos in the tattoo artists world.

Look at steve-o from jackass...
he has a picture of himself covering his entire back, and "your name" written on his ass.
(Suprisingly he doesnt have "Exit Only!" tattooed on there too but dont steal my idea im getting that if i ever go to prison

Good choice, most people who has chinese/japanese signs probably has something from the local chinese restaurant

I am going to do the japanese sign for judo on my left pec

Yeah I know alot of people with Kanji tats that dont mean what they think they do. I researched the shit out of the Kanji Jiu Jitsu characters just to make sure they were correct. I figured Koral did the same before they put it on their merchandise. But still just in case......... I dont wanna be walkin around with a tat that i think says Jiu jitsu but really says tea party or some other shit. I think the best idea is to get a general BJJ tattoo if you want to get one. DOnt go with any affiliations or clubs in case you leave.
